Shinji Ikari is a quiet, sullen young man who works very hard to be as unnoticeable as possible. The pilot of Evangelion Unit-01 is a bold maverick who rips alien invaders apart with his robots bare hands. Shockingly, these are the same person. Called to service by his father, Gendo Ikari, and a desperate NERV, Shinji did what was thought to be impossible and sychronized with an Evangelion with no prior training, and successfully piloted it against the Angels. The weight of this conflict is heavy on Shinji's shoulders, as are his fears about what piloting Eva brings out in him. If Shinji can find a way to resolve the gap between these sides of himself, he might just be able to save the world.
