(OOC NOTE: The log didn't catch the first few lines, so there is a little bit of content missing. The first line (from Shinji) was reconstructed based on memory as it kicks off the conversation, but other missed lines were not. The second line (from Eisen) onward was properly logged. Some OOC notes and minor editing have been left in to notate things that wouldn't otherwise come across in radio chatter. Also, Alouette "Alloy" originally says that she has no Child designation, but this has since been retconned to make her the Fourth Child, so that was adjusted accordingly too.)

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Hey, Eisen, is pesto supposed to be green? This pesto I'm making turned out... very green.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Pesto is either Green or Red, depending on what kind of Pesto you've made.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I don't cook the stuff myself. But I've lectured at a few Italian Universities in the past.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> In what way does that make you /qualified/?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I don't know. Why are you qualified to tell yellow from blue?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I'm just saying I know the stuff because I've eaten it a few times. I'm no cook.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You're on your own, Shinji.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> Should have just said that from the start. You made it sound like going to Italy instantly made you an expert.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I can't help that's what you took from that.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Don't blame me for you making assumptions.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I just followed the directions on the youtube-ah, sorry.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I've got cooks to cook for me.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I'll just get Asuka to taste test

[O-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Read: Every day is take-out day / restaurant day for Eisen

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> Why wouldn't I? You're the one who always tries to make your credentials sound so grandiose - that none of us know what to believe. Wouldn't surprise me if you had told us next that you had a three Michelin star restaurant in Florence.

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel hooo? "If I were to try and sound grandiose, I would have phrased it quite differently."

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Florence is nice for dinner though. Their boar pate is to die for. And have you ever had steak with lardon?

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> No I try to cook it off first!

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Wh... no.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> anyone. ayanami don't leave me hanging.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Why not ask your dad?

[T-NRV] * Asuka Shikinami Langley pauses for a moment, then... "I guess you've got me there. You haven't mentioned the Dark side of the Culinary World even once."

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel hmm-hmm! "Yes, even I do not have access to the true nature of the The Midnight Chefs!

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari makes a sound as if all the joy has been sucked from the room and attached building. "I, uh, don't think he's interested in my hobbies, Eisen. He's a busy man."

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel goes right along as if Shinji's mood had not changed at all; "A shame. I'm sure if you went to Kaworu and offered it to him -- he'd be delighted though. He seems to take a special kind of care around you."

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel returns to the topic of The Midnight Chefs; "I hear they use forbidden cooking techniques, and very dangerous ingredients. But I've still not met any of them."

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> No I think he's just nice. Misato just mentioned once she liked pesto sauce so I thought a pasta night'd be nice, it's not really important.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Look, Tokyo-3 has some great chefs. Why not take her out instead?

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> Why did I put this idea in his head?" Long sigh, "That's entirely my fault." Before saying to Shinji, "Nice? You think the Fifth String is nice? Heh.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> That's kind of extravagant Eisen. Besides, it's good for the digestion to only eat out once in a while. Preservitives.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Kaworu? He seems okay. I mean I always feel a step behind with all of this Coordinator cultural stuff, so maybe I'm missing some subtext. I think you two'd get along if you gave each other a break.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> ... ... ... What are you stupid? I hate him more than anyone else - and the feeling is entirely mutual.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I dunno, maybe I am stupid.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Extravagant? What's so extravagant about going to a good restaurant and having some food?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Like, you know how much they spent on the last repairs of Unit 01?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Take off a few inches of armor plating, and you now have 'extravagant' dinners for a year!

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> T-that's extortion!

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Who are you extorting?

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> No wait it's.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Embezzlement?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I'm not saying to embezzle funds. I'm saying that your sense of scale in funding is so off!

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> That's NERV stuff, it's different.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You're NERV stuff.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You, just like Asuka, are a Resource! Managed by the great Evangelion team!

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari tone of voice. "That's the worst sentence I've ever heard."

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> ... He's not being entirely stupid on that one though.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> You guys need to have something outside of NERV or this place is going to kill you. Like. Asuka, what's your favorite book?

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> 'A Comprehensive Treatise on Inorganic and Theoretical Chemistry.'

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> oh my god. Eisen?

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> What's wrong with that!?

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel without even skipping a beat, "Mellor's ninth? A good read!"

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> It's homework!

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Shut up Shinji.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Do not get in the way of peoples' learning!

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> This is for the advancement... OF SCIENCE!

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> What are you stupid? What about that sounds like middle school homework? It's just my favorite reference book in my field!

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> And why did you go into that field?

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> To understand the fundamental underpinnings of the physical world?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> See, this is why I respect Asuka more than you, Shinji.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> ... and because the concept of LCL interested me...

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Oh. Well that's neat. But my, my point is that everyone needs a part of themselves that isn't their job. Like, uh, I decided I wanted to read 'Huck Finn' this summer.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> So you are here to decide for us, that having an interest in the world and science, must be 'their job'?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> And why can't one's hobby not be their job? Is it not /okay/ to get gratification and satisfaction from what we do?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Are you telling an artist to stop painting, because they get paid?

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> My point is if you call yourself a resouce they'll spend you like one.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I call myself a resource, because I know what I am in their eyes.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> But if you rather I ignore reality and come down to your level... sure.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I have a hobby other than work.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> As Asuka recently discovered -- somehow (pause) -- I am WATCHING you, stay out of my room, Phoenix.

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel continues; "I collect and paint miniatures."

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari does a breathing exercise.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> What kind?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> The Greats of course. The Getter Team, GaoGaiGar...

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I'm waiting on my pre-order for GaoFaiGar.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I also have a bunch of Kaiju as well of course.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> They make toys of military robots?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> They're critically acclaimed /collectables/, Shinji. They're not just some 'toys'.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I painstakingly sanded and painted and clipped these things.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Right like gunpla.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> So what's your hobby, Shinji?

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari waves the pepper shaker.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I see, you like musical instruments.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Good on you.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I do play the cello actually.

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel makes some kind of acknowledging 'hmm' sounds that suggests he's lost interest in this.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "The cello... How nice. I play the piano myself, as you already know, Shinji. Perhaps we could practice together sometime, if you like?"

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You should also taste his pesto, if it hasn't gone cold yet.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "I wouldn't mind that."

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "But it's up to Shinji."

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Oh it's in hock from the move.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Your cello?"

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> How did the large string instrument fit inside the hawk?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> The kid means storage - or he sold it off.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> The hawk helps you move? Do you have moving impairment?

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Um, hello.

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel hmm... "Yes! The Dark Hawk, hero to all movers, helped him."

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa chuckles lightly. "Good evening, Alouette."

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Hello Third Child

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Good Evening Nagisa, are you well?

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Yes, thank you. And you?"

[T-NRV] * Asuka Shikinami Langley mutters, "So that's her name."

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Don't mind miss Alouette. She has a mysterious military background. So she's a bit world-strange.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Oh I see. I will add the Dark Hawk Hero of Movers to my Data

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> You know I dont actually mind third Child.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Please do.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> He's kidding, Miss. I couldn't afford to bring my stuff from my old apartment when I got moved out here, but until the lease is up the landlord can't sell it or let Vultures in.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> her name... oh, her name is Alouette Kaas

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> She... I, am the Fourth Child.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Oh are you with STORAGE? Or GGG?

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel mumbles, "It came from below."

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa hmms quietly.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> It...

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari makes another 'are you ok' look at Asuka inbetween skit panels.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Five by Five

[T-NRV] * Asuka Shikinami Langley waves him off and eats some more of the Pesto pasta.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> She's with NERV. She's another Evangelion Pilot, Shinji.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari sputter. "A new pilot?!"

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Yes."

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You should see her Evangelion unit!

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> The designers were truly inspired!

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> We are allies. I pilot Evangelion Unit Null-Sigma

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Just really going wild with these names.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> But, um, welcome aboard? I guess you've met everyone else.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Going wild with names? What would be going domestic with names?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Shinji is used to the rather boring integer increasing terms.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Unit Zero, One, Two...

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> We're /not/ allies. I'm not cooperating with a weirdo like you.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> No, I have met few. I express gratitude for welcome. I could meet you sometime when you stop moving and choose one place to be.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You don't exactly have a choice on the matter, Asuka.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> Oh yeah? Order me to cooperate with her and see where that gets you you Chuutwo flunky.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I won't need to.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> If an Angel appears, it'll be all hands on deck, and you'll be cooperating with all of us.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Unless you are still insisting on solo-ing one?

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Asuka. Shikinami. Langley. It will be ok.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Though Kaworu still won't greenlight that.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Correct."

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> So there you have it.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> So that uh gun alien guy!

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Which one?

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "..."

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Gervias?

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Do you mean Gillvalis?"

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Go on.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Sure, sure.

[T-NRV] * Asuka Shikinami Langley doesn't actually snap at Kaworu on this one, believe it or not, "I suppose we'll see what happens after the eighth Angel arrives, Chuutwo."

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Just weird that he showed up out of nowhere. I dunno some dude shot orbital ordinance at something I was standing on.

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel hmm! "It will be a glorious battle! I can't wait."

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> The Angels truly are beautiful... both in life and in death.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> And once it's over I won't have to cooperate with any of you ever again.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> So I am looking forward to it.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa makes a noncommittal sound.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Oh? Looking to strike out on your own?

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I hear Nergal's paying anti-kaiju experts six figures.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Only six figures?

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> O-only?!

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> I never said anything about leaving.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You really have no idea about the scope of income, do you?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Hmm! So you've learned how to be mysterious! You're learning well.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I like that.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Maybe the eighth won't come. If we have enough Evas maybe whatever's controlling them will go somewhere easier.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Don't say that!

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> What are you stupid? We /want/ them to come here.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Controlling

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I didn't join up to get old and get bored not fighting Angels.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> Better here than somewhere else in the World that'd take us forever to deploy to.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> No I mean like.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Earth. What if they give up on Earthsphere. Harass some other species.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I see you like shoveling problems on others.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says wistfully, "That would be nice, wouldn't it?"

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> What you think we can convince them to go attack the Jovian Lizards or something? Hit the Vajra?

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I mean it'd be nice to just have peace but I don't even know if they're capable of talking. If they're a species or like. The Evangelions of some other species, a bunch of war machines some dead species left on auto-conquer.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Nagisa, my data does not match this conjecture

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Ayanami you've been here longer than any of us, what do you think?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> I don't think those 'things' - the Angels - are even Sentient.

[T-NRV] * Rei Ayanami takes 12 seconds to sign on, after an automatic notification.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> At least, not in a way that humanity easily recognizes.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa laughs faintly.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Don't worry about it, Alouette."

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> complying

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> So, since Shinji will probably ask. What's your hobby, Alouette?

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari fondly, "You, uh, need an update Ayanami? Sorry if I was bothering you."

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> I do not know enough about the Angels to speculate. I do not know if the Angels we have defeated, would be able to leave Earth.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> I don't know 'hobby' what is this?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> There you go Shinji.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You have a project. Enjoy.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari grits his teeth.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says to Eisen, "You're very sensitive about this topic, aren't you?"

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> There may be other Angels who would be able to leave Earth. I don't know.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> First Child. Hello.

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel pretending like he doesn't know what Kaworu is talking about; "About what, administrator?"

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I mean the Angels here are sort of. Dead.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "About hobbies."

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> ...right? They can't get up again right?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> It seems important to Shinji.

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Image destruction was confirmed. The cores were destroyed.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "It does. And you seem upset about it."

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> So you aren't sure about that either?

[O-NRV] Rei Ayanami> alouette: rei heard you but the rei factor kept her from saying hello back, which i am just saying aloud for clarity, given everything!

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> It's fine, Chuutwo has a hobby anyway.

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> No. But, it does not seem likely.

[O-NRV] Shinji Ikari> meanwhile shinji is losing his entire goddamn mind at rei not giving a clear yes to 'can the angels get back up'

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel ignores Kaworu, "You know... I should probably analyze some of that red stuff."

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> The quantity clearly ignored the limits of physics itself, it could be rather useful on some of my scientific endevours.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Hobby /'hbe/ an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> You think we're /not/ already analyzing it?

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Yes, that's right, Alouette."

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Sure. Does that mean I shouldn't want to analyze it as well, Phoenix?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You seem like the kind of person who, if someone hands you a sandwich, and tells you it's a ham sandwich, still checks inside to make sure it is indeed a ham sandwich.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> So a scientist?

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Exactly!

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Peer Review is part of the process.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> I like to swim. I was told there is a place I could visit that has ocean life, I would like that, but I have not done that so it is not a hobby.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> NERV's scientists would have to consider you a peer first.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> What? Oh. Yeah. Sorry, Miss Kass. I was trying to say that--look, I know it's stupid, but it just makes me sad when you all act like you're not people because of the work we do. That's all.

[T-NRV] * Eisen Daiwel scoffs at Asuka.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> You just wait!

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Anyway, Ayanami, while I've got you on, are you going to be at school this week? I've got some fresh eggplant from N-T and those little tomatoes, the yellow ones?

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Yes. Yes, the yellow ones. I may have seen the yellow tomatoes.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Nagisa makes music with the Piano device, I enjoy. I only make music with my mouth, it's not good like the piano device. I enjoyed the shooting and dancing they had me do in training, but I was only permitted to do it when instructed. I am afraid that "enjoyment" was not a focus of my training.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Ok, I can work with that. Any requests?

[T-NRV] * Rei Ayanami is silent long enough that she probably didn't understand the question.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Query. Third Child, since enjoyment is a priority to you, are you happy?

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari eyes Misato's stash. "Is there anything in your lunch this week that'd be agreeable, Ayanami?"

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Grilled eggplant is agreeable.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> Ok. I'm going to wrap it in some greens for vitamins.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari snapped out of mom mode. "What? It's not a priority. I'm not a hedonist or anything."

[T-NRV] * Asuka Shikinami Langley after a while, just hefts her dish and silverware in the sink, goes to her room and signs off.

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> I hope she's okay. She didn't even call my cooking lousy.

[T-NRV] Eisen Daiwel> Probably means it was inoffensive.

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> You are not happy then? Are you seeking to be happy through others happiness?

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> It is very complicated.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "...."

[T-NRV] Shinji Ikari> It's not, really. Someone was decent to me when she didn't have to be. So if I can be decent back, that's what I should do.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says fondly, "That's very mindful of you."

[T-NRV] Alouette Kaas> Hm. Thank you for the data. Shinji Ikari.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari doesn't know how to take a compliment, grills eggplant.
