 The first warnings come from satellites monitoring Jupiter. Something's happening, something enormous. A massive electromagnetic storm is beginning, though the cause isn't quite apparent yet.
 
 That's all they get out before the storm kills communications.
 
 The wait isn't long. After all...the message and the storm are both traveling at light speed. And so, the warning is only a matter of seconds before the Earth Sphere is blanketed in a near-total electromagnetic storm. Fortunately, the onset of Minvosky warfare has long required hardening of just about anything that has to communicate with anything else. Most areas with any modern amenities at all have landline communication ports or laser optical data transfer available.
 
 Nonetheless, it does present a major communications hurdle. For a few hours, debate circles on whether this is some new phase in the Jovian Lizards' war.
 
 That debate ends when the demon appears.
 
 It looms tremendous, visible with the naked eye, day or night, as a figure composed of orange-yellow light. An aura of light shaped like a malevolent god, with what looks to the eye like flowing hair, and widely-stretched wings with a machine's jagged edges, and massive talons. It sits in the sky where Jupiter ought to - and with its light, nothing can see what has become of the distant world.
 
 The Gutsy Galaxy Guard issues an initial report soon after.
 
 Planetary-scale electromagnetic storm. Designation: INVISIBLE BURST
 Celestial apparition in Jovian orbit. Designation: KING OF RUIN
 Gutsy Galaxy Guard will proceed to Jupiter to investigate.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa hmms. "And so as one sun sets, another rises... Jupiter is quite a sight now."

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa asks, "Acting Chief Shishioh, when will you and yours take flight for your investigation?"

[T-NRV] * Guy Shishioh ssskk crackle. "--ting, testing...there we go. Well, first we have to make sure all the communication systems are going to stay up with most of our Research team outside the Earth Sphere. I'm expecting at least a week, probably two. Our data suggests the phenomenon isn't changing rapidly enough to warrant rushing more than that."

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "Confirmation this is a T0 phenomenon?"

[T-NRV] Akane Shinjo> That's a relief... I needed the time to review our intelligence, anyway.

[T-NRV] Zan> ... more T0? My apologies, I am under repairs and this came across.

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> Well, that gives me enough time to break the news to the family

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Confirmation...there's no Z0-Similar in the readings we do have, if that's what you want.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> This also gives me time to harden the Hermes for interplanetary travel.

[T-NRV] * Guy Shishioh grim, "But there is no question that this is the action of a King of Conquerors."

[T-NRV] Chloe> T0? Z0?

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "The news thought it might be the Lizards but this would be--yeah, that's--"

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "I see. Yes, it's only prudent to adequately prepare. Will you need any extra personnel or equipment, in that case?"

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "It looks like GaoGaiGar."

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Whatever the source, there is a fear rising in the global consciousness. If this continues, the consequences could be...

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> It's not just GaoGaiGar...I'd know that silhouette anywhere.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> I've worn it, before.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> That's Genesic GaoGaiGar.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "...I see."

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> ...That was from when the rest of the Guard disappeared, right?

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari murmurs, "It *is* really unnerving... It's no wonder people are scared. The Invisible Burst's bad enough without... that."

[T-NRV] Chloe> I am unfamiliar with most of these terms.

[T-NRV] Alouette Pommier> There's no doubt... that must be the true present form of Galeon.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "Genesic GaoGaiGar?"

[T-NRV] Zan> How long do we have? My damage is extensive, but I can have my base form ready the quickest.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "It seems a review may be in order, Acting Chief."

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Guess so.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "And yeah, Shinji, VERTEX has been... having trouble since it happened. Having trouble reaching my contacts."

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> It's Galeon?

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "Same here."

[T-NRV] Alouette Pommier> The Galeon we have right now, it's hard to explain, but he came from the past. Our timeline's Galeon... he's still out there. Presumably as the core of Genesic, right, Guy?

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Gh... had to turn off my radio scanner.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> They're making their move, aren't they.

[T-NRV] Zan> Any idea what he is up to at Jupiter?

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Seems so, Renais.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "The *past*? As in..." a little bewildered, "he time-traveled?"

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> I can't think of anything that'd cause that...

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> I guess I owe some explanations, heh.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> It's... complicated, Ikari.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "It sounds like it..."

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> I've asked around the base a bit about it and I still don't really get it.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Okay, so.

[T-NRV] Alouette Pommier> Betterman magic. I wasn't.. there so I can't exactly tell you the details. Except that the guy responsible was apparently a total weirdo.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> So...About six years ago now, GGG - the Gutsy Galaxy Guard - was exiled from Earth, remember? The story was we disobeyed orders related to the whole Getter prohibitions, but that wasn't it.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Those involved in time travel usually are.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says to Alouette, "Oh--that guy." To Guy: "Right."

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> We'd detected that the universe was contracting because all of its dark energy was being siphoned away. We knew we had to leave the solar system to investigate. The details of how that got complicated are, uhm, complicated, but long story short:

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> It was being absorbed by a remnant of the previous universe. The reality that existed before the Big Bang.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> By a control system left behind by the civilization that built Galeon.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Yep. We were able to go there. That...is also a long story, but with Mamoru's help, we were able to gain control of Galeon's original Genesic GaoMaachines, form Genesic GaoGaiGar, and beat them.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> ...So you're the ones.

[T-NRV] * Guy Shishioh heh heh

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> The ones who what?

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Why did they want it?

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> We also detected this phenomenon. We did not however find a solution. Please, continue, Acting Chief.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> To rebuild the Trinary Solar System.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> And thereby, to survive...at least for a little while longer.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> But...well, returning the universe's dark energy meant we were left in a rapidly-deflating previous universe. We were able to send Mamoru and Ikumi home on the last two ES Missiles, which is why they were able to come home within weeks. /We/ had to take a gamble on one of Genesic's Gadget Tools, the Galeoria Road.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> We didn't punch through to our universe, though.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 sounds a little intimidated. "They were... eating our universe to try and preserve theirs? How is that even--"

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Dark energy is the repulsive force that causes our universe to expand.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> They were sapping that away to resist the collapse of their own universe.

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> If they had been moderate, it might be good.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> We punched through to the... space between universes. The embryo of our universe, the singularity before the Big Bang.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Uncle Liger's good, but he's not 'reverse-engineer n-dimensional coordinate systems invented by hyperadvanced aliens in twelve hours' good, so yes, we were a bit off the mark. Actually...maybe, with what we know now...perhaps that's just always where you go when you get lost in space and time.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Might explain how so many other incidents landed people there.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "...The technology you'd need to--" Pause. "And that's where T-Zero lives."

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Triple Zero, yes.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Short for the 'Oath Over Omega'.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> The Oath Over Omega. A principle that surpasses the end of everything.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "Right... And that's when the others got--infected by it, right? I remember some of this from that meeting from early last year."

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Even we've heard of it... but as it stands, we have no countermeasure.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Something... I don't want to believe it's the universe itself, but something in the energy in that place... it infected us, yes.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "So... the 'original' Ghaleon is infected, and out there, and this is somehow linked to him, then?"

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Well, I'm not looking up at a giant Mazinger Z lighting up the night sky.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Galeon ejected me to protect me. My parent's ghosts were able to go there from the well of Power in Jupiter and sheltered me until a rupture brought me back in the beginning of last year.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> ... really, Guy? They're... they're in there?

[T-NRV] * Sonia Sophia-Grace clicks her tongue softly. "Not to interrupt too much, but -- I'll talk to the crew. It might be useful to head out that way myself, Administrator, Captain."

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "/What/?"

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari sounds stunned. "Your parents'--ghosts?"

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Yeah. The rip between the well of The Power and Orange Site lets them through, I guess. They can't do much, but...

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> The energy there is enough to preserve their consciousnesses without a body, I suppose.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Wouldn't be the first impossible thing The Power did...

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Yes, of course. Sufficient energy suffusing consciousness can of course preserve...

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Matter and energy are the same thing, after all.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Indeed.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Certainly, Captain Sophia-Grace. Commander Ikari is looking to send a contingent to assist with this matter."

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari falls silent.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "So you saw them," like it's the biggest punch of all here.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Anyway, to bring us back to the present...that King of Ruin is definitely Genesic GaoGaiGar. I'm sure Galeon's involved. We'd hoped something prevented him from coming through when J-Ark did, but I guess he found a way.

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Can you purify him?

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Or- ugh, I'm having trouble understanding some of this, but...

[T-NRV] * Guy Shishioh extremely uncomfortable hesitation.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Well. Sort of.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Is it possible this is because Genesic is doing something to the fault The Power leaks out through?

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Rather... less that it's already come through, but that it's *trying* to?

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Just like with the other Braves, we'd probably have to extract his Black Box, which houses his personality, and then destroy the rest. But unlike the rest of the Braves, we wouldn't really be able to rebuild who he is now. Mamoru had to unleash his Genesic abilities in the Trinary SOlar System.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Which means...

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Best case, we get Galeon back, but lose the power of Genesic for our own.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Worst case, he might not be able to inhabit any other body anymore.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> --That makes as much sense as anything, Renais. It seems likely.

[T-NRV] Chloe> I still do not understand any of this. However, simply tell me what to shoot. And I will.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> That, we can do.

[T-NRV] * Rei Ayanami :has an open mic for several seconds. Then, "I hope you can save him."

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> I feel like even the worst case scenario works out well for us with cutting off Genesic.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says faintly to Chloe, "You really are just like Asuka..."

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Me too, Rei. Thank you.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> I will lend what expertise I can in order to attempt to save your friend.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> ...I will also insist that I be allowed to accompany you and provide assistance.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> You're not wrong, Lina. Genesic's a goldmine of alien technology, but in Triple Zeros' control it's a threat to everything. We have to stop him.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 sounds a bit weary, like he had to take a Moment offmic. "I--there's no other way to. Right? We have to go to Jupiter."

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Likewise, I wish you well, Acting Chief. I have my duties here on Earth, so I won't be able to join you, but I'll do what I can to help coordinate the mission before you set off."

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> We got enough from Themisto Eyes to tell that there was some serious warping of space going on... some sort of insane lensing effect is what's causing what we see.

[T-NRV] Asuka Shikinami Langley> She doesn't sound anything like me! ... I don't need to be told what to shoot.

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> Just fire at will then, huh Red?

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari laughs a little, sounding oddly relieved. "That's true, you don't."

[T-NRV] Zan> Chloe is a good person.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> :chuckles softly.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Your strength could make the difference, Liam. It sounds as if we must bring all we have to bear.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "Asuka's a good person too! She's just... a little rough around the edges sometimes." Pause. "A lot of the time."

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Oh right, I never did explain the past Galeon thing, I guess? There's surprisingly little to tell. After Akane trashed GaoFighGar, and after Bujack struck our forces, I knew I needed to return to the true King of Braves. So I spoke with Betterman Lamia. Apparently one of the Somniums can walk through time, and, well, that's the story, pretty much.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> And yes. We have to go to Jupiter.

[T-NRV] Zan> Indeed. I am going to see if I can rush order parts from my parent companies. Is there anything we need that they may be able to assist with?

[T-NRV] Alouette Pommier> I'm going, of course. This is... in a way, it's what I've been waiting for this whole time.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "Oh yeah... That makes sense. Sort of."

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "...I--really, Doctor? I'm sorry, I. Someone I care about is scared because they thought this was the Jovian Lizards, and I'm having trouble getting through, and--"

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Hmmmm. I'm glad that time travel worked out in your favor.

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> And hey, who knows, we might be able to get the rest of the Braves back in one sweep while we're at it

[T-NRV] Zan> Sir, will Goldymarg be ready before then?

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Absolutely, we do have to go. The Division Train should let us get there in a matter of weeks, but we might have to stop in at Mars, first. Hinoki's worried about Algernon outbreaks.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> ...You must of course tend to those dear to you. But do you think that going to investigate for yourself would this person at ease? Knowledge is the best antidote to fear.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> It's not the Lizards.

[T-NRV] Chloe> Algernon outbreaks?

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> The conditions for Algernon outbreaks are very much met. I agree that we should look out for them.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Whoever's out there on Jupiter is probably doing pretty fucking badly right now. Was the Energy Fleet out that way?

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "I... think so. She was worried the Lizards were using this as a distraction to hit Mars."

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "Lucine's from Mars, isn't she? Maybe she could go too?" He makes an audible grimace at the mention of Algernon.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Mars, hm..."

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Algernon is, uh...

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "We'd be going to Mars first? Then--" Awkward pause. "Yeah. She is. She's from a colony that didn't make it."

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> ... I'm really not equipped for explaining this stuff.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Algernon is a...disease, of sorts? Condition? Triggered in people when they observe something they understand to be beyond human ability to confront. It summons Somniums, a kind of superhuman with the ability to rapidly adapt to such situations...Bettermen, as Chief Akamatsu calls them. ...but it also makes you murderous.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> So it's quite bad for an outbreak to occur, and a demon in the sky is exactly the sort of thing that does it.

[T-NRV] Alouette Pommier> I've never liked thinking too hard about Algernon... but it makes sense to make a stop by Mars. Even without worrying about that, it's a long enough trip that people will need a pit stop to get some real air.

[T-NRV] Chloe> Mmmm, I understand. That is a concern.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "If you need guidance on Mars, there's someone else outside of NERV besides Lucine I could recommend to you, Acting Chief."

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Liam... the Lizards are right in the middle of an electormagnetic storm that knocked out all radio-based communications in the Earth Sphere.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Even hardened electronics are going to have trouble in the Jupiter Sphere.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Yeah? I'm interested, Kaworu.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "Lucine's--ah. I'm trying to get ahold of her, my phone is..."

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Go find a public terminal.

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Look up the crew of the Martian ship Bebop, crewed by Spike Spiegel and Jet Black. They're essentially mercenaries for hire. I encountered Spike on the Orbital Ring during the evacuation for the Eleventh Angel, and he was handling the situation with aplomb. I believe they'd be helpful to you."

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> The whole consumer band is fucked right now. So are most of the others, but...

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari makes a small noise. "I hope you can get in touch with Lucine soon, Liam."

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "Right. Right! Thanks, Renais. I wasn't sure."

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> The Bebop? I've crossed paths with them a couple times back when I was in the PMC trenches. Good guys.

[T-NRV] * Rei Ayanami to Liam: "You are using a cellular phone? Or a computer message?"

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Bebop, huh. Good idea, I'll get in touch.

[T-NRV] Alouette Pommier> Mercenaries, huh? Well.. they'd have to be pretty gutsy to sign up for this. We'll see what they say.

[T-NRV] * Sonia Sophia-Grace chuckles at Alouette's 'gutsy'. "Thank you, administrator. Chief Shishioh, please keep in contact with me - I can support a handful of machines."

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "An app on my cell phone."

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "You're welcome."

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Understood.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> I was worried they were going to make their move soon, but this...

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> Oh hey, uh, Son--Captain Sophia-Grace. I've got...something to talk to you about after this, if you have time.

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> We should expect they'll be waiting for us. Our one ace in the hole is I doubt they know about the Division Train's mobility. That's all Shigeru's engineering.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> Ugh. Cet oiseau stupide...

[T-NRV] * Renais Cardiff mutes her feed, then unmutes after about 30 seconds. "Excuzes-mois. I had to, ah... yell at something."

[T-NRV] * Sonia Sophia-Grace absolutely not hiding her smile, "Yes, Lina, I accept."

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Then I'll have my contributions ready as soon as possible.

[T-NRV] Lina Lombardi> Huh?! I didn't even ask ye--Ahmm!

[T-NRV] Guy Shishioh> Thank you. This is gonna be a tough one, folks, but we'll get through it. Believe in your courage and that of your comrades, and we'll pull this off and save the world and our friends once again.

[T-NRV] Renais Cardiff> I'll have to figure out something to pilot...

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says warmly, "I have faith in you all."

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, "Yeah, good luck!"

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Good luck.

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "OK, Lucine's... very interested in coming with, I'm switching over to call her."

[T-NRV] Alouette Pommier> Aviaire will likely need tune-ups herself. I know what we're up against. So... thank you for your well wishes everyone.

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> I believe in all of you. I will support you as best I can.l

[T-NRV] * Sonia Sophia-Grace cannot help the soft laughter. "What? You're fairly obvious, Lombardi. As to everyone else... if you are not with the Guard and are interested, please speak to me. Again, I can support."

[T-NRV] * Lina Lombardi grumbles in defeat.

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari murmurs, "...Hey, Ayanami... About that thing we were talking about before... I think we'd better set that up soon."

[T-NRV] Rei Ayanami> Yes...

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Hmm? What thing is this?"

[T-NRV] * Shinji Ikari says, a little cheerier than usual, "I'll tell you about it a little later, Kaworu-kun."

[T-NRV] * Rei Ayanami says enigmatically, "The southern view..."

[T-NRV] * Kaworu Nagisa says, "Oh? I look forward to it, then."

[T-NRV] * Liam 7-020 says, "Lucine says she's in. She's talking with her captain."

[T-NRV] Jana Cektru> Good.

[VERTEX] From Jana Cektru: There is another matter related to this briefing that I wish to mention.

[VERTEX] To Jana Cektru and Guy Shishioh: Oh?

[VERTEX] From Guy Shishioh: Sure, what's on your mind?

[VERTEX] From Jana Cektru: Both of you are aware of my origins, I believe. With that in mind... I feel it is worth communicating that I consider this a responsibility above and beyond my role as an observer and helper of humanity. To help with this is important as a member of the galactic community.

[VERTEX] To Jana Cektru and Guy Shishioh: Yes. I quite understand.

[VERTEX] From Jana Cektru: My people are affected by this crisis--or will be, sooner or later--and lack a countermeasure. Thus, I will put my faith in you, and help to the best of my ability. I still cannot bring all of my people's technology to bear in the Earth Sphere, but I will offer my own expertise.

[VERTEX] From Guy Shishioh: I'm glad you feel that way. We'll gladly accept, too. It does worry me, the scope this could reach. We might have to think hard about how to make sure other worlds aren't as vulnerable. Sounds like Humanity isn't even close to the only ones poking around in dimensional holes.

[VERTEX] To Jana Cektru and Guy Shishioh: (Kaworu chuckles quietly.) "Certainly not. I'm sure you'll see at least one or two Ultramen appear to lend their aid as well."

[VERTEX] From Jana Cektru: That would be ideal for my research as well! ...But idle hopes aside, you're quite right. My own people closed off research into such fields, for fear of what we could unleash. Thus, I have only limited experience in extradimensional threats. Still, I think that we'll be doing the entire universe a favor in this mission.

[VERTEX] To Jana Cektru and Guy Shishioh: I quite agree. And, thinking on it... there's someone else with a bit of experience in this sort of thing whom I might be able to ask to lend their aid.

[VERTEX] To Jana Cektru and Guy Shishioh: Though he *does* lack overall experience.

[VERTEX] From Jana Cektru: Oh? The more minds the better on this, I think. What one lacks, the others can contribute.
