Sayaka Yumi is the current director of the Photon Power Labs, succeeding her father after he became Prime Minister of Japan. Alongside Koji Kabuto and Mazinger Z, Sayaka piloted Aphrodite A, and later, Diana A in the war against Dr. Hell and the kikaiju. She later joined the fight against the Myceanean Empire alongside Tetsuya Tsurugi. After the fighting ended, she retired from piloting and urged Koji to do so as well. However, recently, she and Koji both made the decision to return from retirement in the wake of renewed conflict across the Earth Sphere, including the revival of the kikaiju, and she pilots the new and improved Aphrodite Areia. From her hot-blooded youth, Sayaka has grown into an assertive woman who garners much respect... even if she feels there's a lot missing from her life.
