Daughter of Britannian nobility, Shari Loom is a seemingly ordinary student at Ashford Academy. She is brilliant but socially withdrawn, favoring signs of obvious teenage rebellion that are mostly kept to minor touches, rather than bad behavior. She still participates in school life, such as through tennis, but is noted less for her great performance and more for the migraines that seem to strike at random times. Some say that they're more than just migraines, though--that they hear Shari talking to people who aren't there. The truth is that she /does/ hear strange Whispers, and one Voice in particular has come to dominate her life. Her mysterious connection to Dr. Elisa Kafim sees her working for Celestial Being and the Kafims more directly. She's tried to make the best of it, and doesn't believe there's anything to be done; more for pacifying the Voice within than for ideology, she will continue to fight. But some think there might be a different path for her...

Background

Shari Loom is the daughter of Britannian nobility, though of a not particularly loving marriage. Her father married her mother mostly for advantage, and her mother went along with it for her family's sake. Shari herself was regarded as a necessity, and so she's been cared for but not with a lot of warmth.

She moved around a lot as a child, never staying at one school very long, and thus didn't make a lot of friends. This was exacerbated by her strange manner and distance from others, given the 'voices' that she's known since she was young.

Her academic brilliance was enough to satisfy her parents, and eventually her father made a breakthrough in his political career: a government minister for Area 11, he took the family there, where Shari would enroll in Ashford Academy. Around this time a particular Voice began to whisper insistently with increasing demands, and this culminated in meeting Dr. Elisa Kafim--who was able to pacify the Voice even as Shari gave her more strange technology.

Ever since, Shari has been working with Celestial Being, plagued by not only the voices that threaten to overwhelm her, but that particular Voice that seems so angry until she does as it demands.

Resources

Shari Loom before anything else is a Whispered, highly psychically awakened and in tune with knowledge that could revolutionize many fields of engineering. She's very good with machines, and her particular knowledge includes the use of extradimensional energy to create seemingly magical effects.

She's also a Britannian noble, if a minor one, with the rights that accompany that title. She doesn't have a lot of money from her family, but she's able to attend a fancy private school and has a stipend that covers most leisure activities.

In her work with Elisa she has made a lot of technology, but one of the most notable that she possesses is a small crystal orb that allows her to influence minds. With it she has added to her pocket money and taken minor control over certain businessmen in Area 11, allowing her to operate her secret lab without too much worry. It's also a beacon Elisa can use to reach her. She is, related, under Dr. Kafim's personal protection, which means if she's ever kidnapped it's gonna be a problem for somebody.

She is also capable of making jewelry. Her lovely stones have a secret, and they would be very valuable to the right people... as they are now to the Kafims.

Name Affiliation Affinity Notes
Elisa Kafim The Void Affinity-3-green.png "On the one hand very, very creepy. On the other hand, the voices stop when I give her things! And she gave me a mind-control orb???? She's always been good to me, anyway..."
Yuliana Kafim Elisa Affinity-3-green.png "She's exasperating. And I think she wants to eat me. But other than that she's pretty nice. ...I doubt she's some kind of victim though, whatever Leina thinks."
Parminder Chauri 'The Lolz' Affinity-4-blue.png "He's got a lot of good advice. I know he's a horrible murderer and stuff, but it feels like he's the only one who's straight with me about things around here. ...Not that he's straight about anything else."
Wendy Yuan ??? Affinity-1-orange.png "This is not normal. Stop acting like it's normal!"

Others

Emilia Eschonbach ??? Affinity-4-blue.png "She's a great friend. I know there's things she's not telling me, but... that's fine, right? There's things like that for me, too. I just worry if she's going to go getting hurt..."
Milly Ashford ??? Affinity-4-blue.png "Milly welcomed me to the school before anybody else really did. She helped me get out of my shell a little... even if I kinda went back in."
Leina Ashta Cathedra Affinity-4-blue.png "We're friends, and that's good enough for now. I owe her for Gerardo, and she's done right by me so far. Maybe she has stuff she wants, but doesn't everyone?"
Naoko Suzuki 3SA Affinity-3-green.png "She's not so bad. She's still a mega dork, but... she cares. She wants me to believe in her. I don't know, but... It doesn't seem so bad."
Teletha Testarossa Mithril Affinity-2-yellow.png "She's... nice. And she didn't want to kidnap me. But she's kind of awkward, too, and definitely weird. ...But being a Colonel at our age is kind of... It explains a few things?"
