Shari Loom is a Britannian girl in a much wider world, having broken away from her 'Aunts' Elisa and Yuliana Kafim and her parents both. She is one of the Whispered, an engineering genius who creates technology that should be decades from fruition. Her specialties deal with the Void, a strange dimension of energy inhabited by stranger beings, but one in particular who once tormented her. She has committed never to be under someone's thumb like that again, and instead now works for the Photon Power League while she gets ready to go back to school. Her life is looking bright--but it may be inevitable that she's drawn back into the lens of conflict, given her abilities and a moral compass being influenced by famous heroes and terrible villains alike.

Background

Shari Loom is the daughter of Britannian nobility, though of a not particularly loving marriage. Her father married her mother mostly for advantage, and her mother went along with it for her family's sake. Shari herself was regarded as a necessity, and so she's been cared for but not with a lot of warmth.

She moved around a lot as a child, never staying at one school very long, and thus didn't make a lot of friends. This was exacerbated by her strange manner and distance from others, given the 'voices' that she's known since she was young.

Her academic brilliance was enough to satisfy her parents, and eventually her father made a breakthrough in his political career: a government minister for Area 11, he took the family there, where Shari would enroll in Ashford Academy. Around this time a particular Voice began to whisper insistently with increasing demands, and this culminated in meeting Dr. Elisa Kafim--who was able to pacify the Voice even as Shari gave her more strange technology.

Ever since, Shari has been working with Celestial Being, plagued by not only the voices that threaten to overwhelm her, but that particular Voice that seems so angry until she does as it demands.

Meets Yuliana, does not end up eaten. Starts to make friends at Ashford. Does her first terrorisms.

Shari's Aunts escalate, and at the same time, she starts to form deeper bonds with her friends, and some of them--especially Leina Ashta--start to move towards getting her out of her situation. She learns a bit about what the Whispered are. Leina sets her up with someone! She develops a rivalry that turns into a friendship with Naoko Suzuki. And she learns more from Parminder.

In the wake of Second Gate Open and the change of the North Pole, Shari Loom finally fled the Kafims' sphere of influence. Learning that Elisa and the Empress are the same entity was too much, and she ran away to Stockholm, where she took trains and buses until reaching France--and through meeting Prima Virtue, was put back in touch with Leina Ashta. A stop in Barcelona saw her to the Ra Mari II, where Naoko Suzuki would help her help herself--and where she would step towards freedom from the one Voice that is so unlike the others.

Phase 1 Special Disc

With Naoko Suzuki, Shari develops her defense against the Empress's call. It is brought to the test at a chance encounter at the Photon Power League. Having been called in to consult on Green Fold Quartz, she runs into Yuliana... and tests her method for her, too. The Empress retaliates, but Shari, after a moment of terror, shouts defiance and commits herself to ensure she will never be under Her thumb again. It is the start of her opposition to the agents of the Void.

Soon, Shari is working at the PPL more formally, officially as an intern though her engineering knowledge far surpasses the average eighteen-year-old's. She starts to establish herself here and look into schools to go to later. But she still has interests in NUNE territory for now...

Resources

Shari Loom before anything else is a Whispered, highly psychically awakened and in tune with knowledge that could revolutionize many fields of engineering. She's very good with machines, and her particular knowledge includes the use of extradimensional energy to create seemingly magical effects.

She no longer has ties to either her parents or to her Aunts financially or in terms of protection, which renders her vulnerable in a number of ways but also freer than before. She has a relationship with the Photon Power League that gives her access to lab and hangar space, though she doesn't have a personal mecha at the moment. She has room to make her crystals, which can make use of Void energy but also protect against same, and her technology married to the PPL's might make new breakthroughs in energy and in defense.
