Wong Yun-fat

(This is a Chinese name; the family name is Wong.)

Wong Yun-fat (0053-0093) was an Oceania Cooperative Union politician affiliated with the Partiya Zaftra, Anti Earth-Union Group, and eventually United Earth Sphere Alliance. He served as mayor of Neo Hong Kong (0076-0084), Prime Minister of Hong Kong and Neo Hong Kong (0085-0089), and ultimately Ruler of All Known Space (0089-0092). He is a distant cousin to Anaheim Electronics VP of Sales Wong Lee.

Wong is seen as the greatest political opportunist of the Universal Century as well as one of the most self-involved men ever to walk the Earth. His political styling was one of high spectacle and no substance, an approach he also brought to the Gundam Fight with repeated rules revisions to make the event more "exciting." He attempted to seize the Devil Gundam during the finals of the 4th Gundam Fight, and under his leadership, Neo Hong Kong scientists made several discoveries regarding its inner workings.

Wong was ultimately consumed by the Devil Gundam and killed during the events surrounding the Axis Shock.

Since his death, numerous instances of malfeasance on his part have been uncovered and publicized by political journalist and war veteran Kai Shiden. Despite his overt support of the AEUG during his time as Prime Minister, Wong backed numerous Newtype Lab installations operated by the Titans and the Federation, sold data from these relationships to the Kingdom of Scandinavia and encouraged its creation of human enhancement projects, greenlit the secret Macross refit project of the Neo Colonies, maintained a cozy relationship with the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate, and made multiple efforts to rig the Gundam Fight Finals. These disclosures have led to few arrests and fewer convictions, as most participants either escaped with fold drives or died during the Axis Shock, but as a formality, most of the living members of Wong's inner circle would be fugitives were they to return to the Earth Sphere.
