BioNet

From Super Robot Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

BioNet serves the interests of a variety of international science criminals and ne'er-do-wells whose goals have less to do with political maneuvering and long-term planning and much more to do with smash-and-grab on an Earth Sphere scale. While many BioNet members dream of conquest, they are substantially just bad people who do bad things for the sake of being bad. BioNet's influence has shifted many times over the years, with their most recent major push coming approximately ten years ago.

What most don't know is that much of BioNet spent nearly two decades away from Earth entirely, hiding away on the Macross Galaxy Fleet, which welcomed them with open arms. The remnants of the Galaxy Fleet have returned to the Earth Sphere partially in secret, following the recall order but more out of interest in profiting from the instability.

BioNet has outsized resources for what should, by rights, be a modestly-sized criminal organization, and a large number of its members employ top-shelf cybernetics and combiner robot technology. The syndicate also manages to keep operations fairly segregated from one another; extensive monitoring of its membership means there's a general sense of who has the stomach for what, so the goofy jewel thieves generally don't tend to see the literal child torture in their day-to-day.

Notable Characters

  • Exev - As far as anyone in BioNet is aware, Exev -- the CEO of Treasure Robotics, a Tokyo-based robotics firm -- is the leader of BioNet at this time. He does little to add clarity to his goals.
  • Victim O'Rand - An AI engineer working for Excellent Inc., a Treasure Robotics partner company. He believes that a Super AI with a heart bent on destruction would be the strongest.
  • Tony Crusader - An AI engineer working for Excellent Inc. A specialist in robotic development and a friend of Victim O'Rand.
  • Dr. Thanatos - The leader of the contingent of BioNet that remained on Earth while much of its bulk remained on the Macross Galaxy Fleet. Little is known about him.
  • Grace O'Connor - Grace O'Connor serves as the representative of the Macross Galaxy Fleet's leadership in the Earth Sphere, who can move freely in locales that they cannot. She seems to serve the Fleet's goals more than Exev's, but doesn't mind helping.
  • Eva Fahrzeug - A former member of BioNet who was sentenced to cryogenic stasis in the 0080s for participation in human experimentation. Despite her checkered history, her contribution to automation, the Fahrzeugronne, forms the basis of modern Super AI and indeed a significant portion of all modern computer automation.

Played Characters

Integration Notes

  • BioNet is the place to be if you want to play a substantially-humanoid Earth Sphere-based capital-v Villain that is not an evil dinosaur or alien demon witch. (BioNet has its share of more 'serious' villains and Amalgam its share of ridiculous cartoon men, but the polarity of Amalgam is toward Bond villains and the polarity of BioNet is toward edgy cartoons.)
  • Because BioNet has few actual characters, it has been merged with Treasure Robotics to add some texture.
  • The nature of Exev's backer, Black Noir, has been changed significantly from the show. If you reach out about applying for Exev, you will definitely be read in on this as part of the application process; if you are a character who needs to know who isn't Exev, you will be made aware once approved.
