Bright and bubbly, Licia Chovan is a talented pilot and a valuable member of the Ra Mari's crew--and a known citizen of the Republic of Zeon.  She is known for an easy smile and a deft hand at the helm, always ready to talk to other members of the crew if they need a friendly ear.  But she's not all sunshine; the surest way to get her down is to talk about Old Zeon's crimes, because she signed up with Londo Bell in an effort to try to do better by the Earth Sphere than Char and his grand plans.  She loves her home, but wishes that the ghosts of Zeon would /rest/ and let the modern-day nation move on with the world.  Until then, while she has some conflicts about fighting other spacenoids, she'll trust in her Captain and do the best she can for everyone.  She's aware that by some standards this makes her a traitor...   • 0074: Born to a young pilot for Zeon.
  • 0077: Her mother deploys to Side 6 to protect its independence.
  • 0079-0080: the One Year War. Licia's mother dies in the fighting. She is five. Her father survives, a civilian teacher.
  • 0083: Chovan's family is not part of the Delaz fleet. They are in Zum City; Chovan's father gets a job at a wealthy private school, which insulates the Chovan family somewhat from economic troubles.
  • 0087: Chovan's father mostly tries to keep the family out of the return to Axis Zeon, but as a teacher in some of the private schools of the higher-ups' children, he cannot entirely avoid being entangled.
  • 0088-0089: Neo Zeon reforms and is defeated by 0089. At this point, Licia is 15, and attending some of these schools herself.
  • 0091: Surprising her father, Licia signs up for the military. She is 18 years old.
  • 0093: Neo-Zeon enters a war footing. Licia is 20 years old. She has been preparing to fight for the independence of her home, seeing no better opportunity--but when Char Aznable tries to drop Axis on the Earth, she is one of the Neo-Zeon pilots to try to stop it in the end, hoping for a miracle. In the aftermath of the battle she defects to Londo Bell.
  • 0094: Captain Zaress Ulyse takes a chance on Licia, requesting her assignment to the Ra Mari, not as a mobile suit pilot, but as a crewman. She becomes one of the best ship pilots in Londo Bell, but rarely gets the opportunity to show off her skills.
  • 0095: As Eight York takes command of the heavily damaged Ra Mari, Licia Chovan acts as helmswoman, making a clear difference in the battle against the kaiju at Winter Wonderland and proving herself a valuable member of the crew. Her promotion sees her placed in a regular spot at the helm of her ship.
  • 0097: Defects from the Federation with Captain York and crew. Begins to serve on the Ra Mari II as part of the Three Ships Alliance.
