Vanadis Incident

An incident in which the Vanadis Institute and Ochs Earth, one of the numerous weapons development groups formed under the V Project, was wiped out.

Ochs Earth was determined to be engaging in human experimentation beyond the remit of the Project due to the Permet-based MS interface. After public outcry, a public-private partnership that would eventually become the Benerit Group and its Cathedra security force intervened, dealing catastrophic damage to the facility and killing most of the personnel for resisting arrest.

This ultimately led to the adoption of the RX-78-2 "Gundam" as the Earth Federation's standard for mobile weapon development in the late 0070s.
