Heero Yuy -- no relation to the Spacenoid peace activist -- is the codename of a young boy with no identity, no mission, and no homeland to speak of, following the destruction of the L1 colony Heliopolis. Raised as a Gundam pilot candidate by a nebulous group of scientists and genetically tampered with, Heero is once among those responsible for the modified Operation Meteor, an operation. However, the operation has ended in failure, following the self-detonation of his Gundam several months ago in the wake of a critical mistake and a direct threat to the colonies. Having lost his reason for battle, Heero is now searching -- for the first time in his young life -- for a meaning to life beyond fighting, drifting from place to place in search of that seemingly distant answer.
