Celise Reneaux is the former Gundam Fighter for Neo-Belgium. She had a middling placement in the Fourth Gundam Fight, owing to her Mobile Fighter's prototype Iris System malfunctioning. Afterward, she achieved some infamy for accepting Devil Gundam Cells, though she ultimately was freed from them and chose to assist the Shuffle Alliance against the Devil Gundam. Now, she maintains a sometimes-uncomfortable affiliation with the Shuffle Alliance and still pilots the Gundam Halcyon to assist them. To the majority of the Earth Sphere, she is known as an often-sleepless, coffee-fueled reporter. She is also the daughter of the Assistant Under-Secretary of Agriculture of the AEU, Sabine Reneaux.

Background

The Reneaux family rose to prominence in Belgium, after the unification of Europe. They began as powerful merchants, which rose to the head of a democratic middle class, and in time, became their own sort of nobility: controlling several different corporations, with diverse assets, and a tendency to make an enormous amount of money. They also grew powerful, politically, with both politicians and kingmakers through lobbying money over the generations. Sabine and Gerhardt Reneaux were like those who came before: a wealthy couple, Sabine being a powerful minister of agriculture in AEU Belgium, who expected great things of themselves... and their daughter, Celise. She was born in UC 0075.

Celise grew up with an expectation placed on her: it was high time for Neo-Belgium to win (or, at least, place highly) in a Gundam Fight. They decided to train Celise from a young age for that one, singular purpose. After that would come celebrity and a natural segue into a career in politics in the AEU. But, first, came the training.

It was a childhood of sharp contrasts: of stunning, staggering wealth and privilege, combined with twelve to fourteen hour days of school and training. Celise trained in fighting, in etiquette, in public speaking; they wanted to make sure that she made the news. At the same time, she also received some cybernetic modification, for a system they began to develop, called the Iris System. It would allow her to form a direct link with her Mobile Fighter, and to receive data through a direct upload into her conscience.

They selected the Fourth Gundam Fight, as Celise would be eighteen then, and could place well. They commissioned the Halcyon Gundam, as a statement of intent; they spent enormous sums and person-hours on her training.

Of course, Celise had her own ideas for her life. In school, she found she loved writing and photography; she wrote for school newspapers and loved it. She entertained visions of becoming a journalist. She, instead, became a Gundam Fighter and the person that everyone in her life expected her to be.

When she turned eighteen, the Gundam Fight started. She did reasonably well at first -- but reasonably well was not top-placing. The pressure mounted; in a fight, she finally used the Iris System to its full potential. It was nearly a disaster. While the Halcyon Gundam did not have its head destroyed, it was badly damaged. Worse, it caused severe damage to her left eye's optical nerve, and rendered her blind. She was knocked out of commission for nearly a month; she had to have her left eye replaced with a cybernetic one.

After she started fighting again, Celise felt her desperation growing more and more. She was offered a deal by Wong Yun-fat: a way to advance and make a difference. Celise, in a moment of desperation, was infected willingly by DG Cells and joined the Devil Gundam Army.

She was ultimately saved, near the end of that conflict, by a mysterious pilot in a Leo Mobile Suit. The Halcyon was shot down -- and she was saved by the Shuffle Alliance, cured of the DG Cell infection. This left her with a sense of obligation to them... and that mysterious pilot of the Leo that saved her. She was also left with her life in tatters -- she had betrayed humanity under the pressure, and she hadn't won the Gundam Fight.

She decided to become a journalist and a reporter instead, but she maintained close ties to the Shuffle Alliance. Celise hasn't had much of a relationship with her family since -- receiving money from them, sometimes, and a few awkward phone calls. She has had some success as a freelance journalist, taking her own pictures, and she has used her reporter's credentials to sometimes gather information for the Shuffle Alliance.

The Gundam Halcyon was Neo-Belgium's entry into the Fourth Gundam Fight. Celise piloted the Mobile Fighter for the majority of the Fight, though she used a different unit after accepting DG Cells. Halcyon is notable for its control system, which combines a Mobile Trace System with a direct cybernetic link. This includes the Iris System, which can upload sensory data directly into a cybernetic implant and, thus, the pilot. This is done with an implant behind the right ear and a specialized cable that connects the pilot to the cockpit.

Its armaments include a pair of standard 60mm vulcan guns, which are typically used for intercepting missiles, anti-personnel operations, and attacks on soft targets. Its main weapon system is a pair of beam rings, which are chakrams that can emit beam blades. These can form both ring-shaped fields for throwing them or beam short swords. The two can be used to create a large anti-ship sword.

The Iris System can also emit three energy fields that are controlled directly through the cybernetic uplink. This system is currently disabled; the one time that it was used in the Fourth Gundam Fight, Celise suffered considerable damage to her left eye.

The Gundam Halcyon was repaired in the wake of the Fourth Gundam Fight by the Shuffle Alliance. Its mechanics, familiar with the Mobile Fighters used by the Crest holders, have repaired it and helped to keep its systems modernized. The Shuffle Alliance is now the

Resources

Celise is an ex-Gundam Fighter. She has some fame; she has a lot of infamy. She also is a well-practiced martial artist.

She also has a cybernetic implant and can link into her Gundam. This is actually what makes her unique, and where I plan to really pursue her growth: she is a Gundam Fighter with a unique system that ties into cybernetics, and she will need to learn to use that with time. Right now, though, she pointedly doesn't use this.

Finally, her parents are very, very, very wealthy and have some clout in the AEU. She doesn't draw on this much, but she could borrow a lot of money from them in a pinch, and they could complicate her life in many different ways.
