Carina Cameron is a Marchioness of the Britannian Union and a member of the BU Forces, currently posted to the BU Spacy as captain of the frigate HMS Havant. She is the daughter of a prominent Duke in the Britannian peerage as well as a notable media figure for the BU Spacy and the broader Forces. Despite a privileged background she has largely laboured to create her own fame on personal merit rather than family connections.
Known background
Carina is the seventh child of Valens III Cameron, a prominent duke within the Britannian peerage. She holds the title of Marchioness.
Following a formative incident in which she witnessed the Dublin colony drop from the viewport of a fleeing Tausendfuessler, Carina set a military career in her sights. She enlisted at 16 in the BU Spacy and served as a gunnery officer aboard a frigate, HMS Derwent. She was promoted to Lieutenant, Junior Grade during the Axis campaign and was present for the Axis Shock.
By 0094, Carina had achieved the rank of Commander and First Officer of HMS Havant, prior to the ship's refit. The ship was on the front lines of the campaign against ZAFT and attempted to oppose orbital drops into North Africa, suffering damage in the process. With the Havant`s captain killed in the combat, Carina took field command of the ship and led the surviving crew in a dangerous orbit-to-surface descent from above North Africa to the South Britannian coast, making a surprisingly safe water landing at a maritime ship drydock in Fortaleza. The ship remained there for some time, undergoing Block IIA refit, while Carina was affirmed as the Havant`s permanent commanding officer.
In the wake of the attack, Carina made headlines when she appeared in a Hi-TV segment covering the Havant's daring water landing. She delivered a very well-received interview, including the line: "The enemy thinks they're superior by nature. They've never met the people of Britannia."
Since the completion of her ship's refit, Carina has maintained and expanded her public profile. She is a regular appearance in Hi-TV features and in other propaganda materials for the BU Spacy and the broader BU Forces, gaining immense public profile.
