  • Summary: At around 16:42 Pendragon Time on June 18th, UC 0100; a certain trailer was shown on several NUNE-approved television channels, and simultaneously posted to several locations on the net.

The first thing on the screen in the trailer is a shot of a camera pointed up at the stars. In the background, a slow piano song can be heard. An arrangement of Ai Oboete Imasu Ka..?

A montage of shots of an updated version of the original Tarabaman fighted updated versions of several famous original series Kaiju--Pyrilite, Chezal, Nalgus. The pace is frantic, with several cuts to black in-between shots. The choreography is pretty good, but fans might object to the heavily CG-augmented suits if they're sticklers for traditional giant hero techniques.

A title card: After 60 years, the hero returns once more...

Another cut to black, and the music cuts out too. The next shot is of a young Japanese woman lying on some grass. She sits up, and walks down the road. It's peaceful around her, and several more scenes are shown of her going to work. Eating at a café. Living her life.

Several shots of scenes of the earth sphere in the late UC 0050s are interspersed with the slice of life shots here. Conflict on Huffman Island. The Tsiolkovsky, somewhere in space. The launch of the Macross. The Independence of Munzo, although depicted with a more recognisably 'Zeonic' aesthetic than the event historically had. The Zentradi fleet...

"Aren't you worried? The world is getting so scary..." The same Japanese woman from earlier is staring up at the sky, holding hands with a woman with black hair, tied in a ponytail. In the sky above, a battle is clearly raging. "Not really." She shakes her head, the camera--after a brief montage of recognisable Taraba V imagery--having cut to show her face. "I've got you with me, haven't I?" The camera cuts to the second woman's face--A woman of AEU Descent with unnaturally green eyes, flashing a strange smile--before cutting to black once again. A voiceover... "In the shadows of the Zentradi war, two youths find themselves drawn to each other..."

A sudden needle drop, and the movie's theme starts playing (clearly started partway through):

"There's something only we can do"
"a darkness only we can fight" (LET'S GO!)
"Dry your tears, hold your heads high"
"to catch that shining RAY of HOPE" (TARABA FIGHT!)

A series of rapid cuts. Scenes of Zentradi fighting Variable Fighters. Kaiju making landfall. Lynn Minmay (interestingly, the actress' costume adheres quite closely to her Do You Remember Love portrayal with the much darker hair) stands on the Macross' bridge, preparing to sing.

"A story of love and discovery in the face of total annihilation."

A horde of Kaiju marching, and the two protagonists staring down at them from up on a cliff.

"What was it that drew Tarabaman to her world? And who is this mysterious girl who has fallen into her life?"

"When we're FACE TO FACE with the world's distortion"
"I know I can make it with you by my side"
       (Love! Strength! Courage!)

A wide crowd shot of the Kaiju. All sorts of familiar faces: Lecrall, Duoz, what looks like a Super Nalgus... oh holy shit, Dynomite! Dynomite is there!

"And just what is it that awaits these youths, on the other side of their fighting..?"

"Your smile gives me all the strength I need"
"so why don't you draw your power from mine?"
       (Pure! Alive! Faith!)

A large whale-like kaiju is shown on screen, staring down at the protagonist. She scowls, pumping her fist in the air, and as the music swells--

"TAAAA-"

"Your sword my shield, our souls on fire"
"prayers fly to us up in the sky"

Light shines out from the ring on her hand (almost identical to one that green-eyed girl was wearing earlier..?), and her eyes start to glow a bright orange...

"-RAAAAA-"

"we'll break through our limits, our powers combined!"

Her body is enveloped entirely by the light, a glowing background appearing behind her instead of the cliff face--and her body flickers between her normal state and an unfamiliar Taraba form.

"-BAAAAAAAAAAA!"

"We are the warriors of the FIRST GENERATION!"

A cut to black, before the title card:

TARABAMAN: FIRST GENERATION

A few moments of silence, and a black screen... and then an empty shot of a sky filled with stars. The camera pans downwards... onto a redesigned Darkstar.

"Well, well, well... what have we here..?"
