PUBLIC NEWS REPORT: T3 STATION CLOSED TO SHOOTING

On Friday, June 17th, a shooting occurred outside Fourth Avenue Train Station in Tokyo-3. One person was critically injured before local NERV officials secured the scene. A Meltrandi mistaken as a humanoid kaiju was sighted in the area at the time, but official statements say that this was unrelated and suggested the Meltrandi was a civilian startled by the gunfire.

Based on reports from local eyewitnesses, the assailant closed in on the victim to stab them multiple times before being chased off, indicating that this attack was targeted and not random. Sources indicate the victim was a NERV official, though further details are not forthcoming, likewise suggesting a targeted attack.

Although pursued, the assailant managed to elude capture and remains at large. The train station, which connected the Geofront to the aboveground, was closed off for the rest of the day to be searched and cleaned, and reopened early in the morning the next day. If you have any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator, please call 0X-XXXX-XXXX.

NERV REPORT: ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

On Friday, June 17th, Administrator Kaworu Nagisa was targeted by an unknown assassin outside Fourth Avenue Station in Tokyo-3. He had just left a train from the Geofront and had been awaiting further transport when he was shot non-fatally in the head. When he attempted escape, the assassin closed in to stab him in the thigh and shoulder and attempted to shoot him again, but was driven off by Acting Chief Guy Shishioh, Captain Shota Hebikura, and other NERV operatives.

The assassin was pursued, but they evaded capture and remain at large. Administrator Nagisa was transported to immediate medical care, and the station was locked down to be searched for clues, then scrubbed down. The bullet was located and found to have a small payload of radioactively poisonous material, which was also found in Administrator Nagisa's head wound. The train station has been made safe and re-opened for public use, but Administrator Nagisa's condition remains critical. He will remain in isolation for the time being.

The assassin was described as being of above-average height with a slim build, wearing a black jumpsuit and matching black motorcycle helmet, both obviously designed for concealment. Any identifiers are unknown because of this. Their affiliation, if any, is also unknown, as is their motivation for the attack. Potentionally tainted material, specifically a pair of shoes that were thrown clear from the secured area, were only partially recovered; the second shoe has not yet been found. Although it should contain only a negligible amount of radiation if any, it remain a source of concern, especially since it may have been stolen by the attempted assassin. Until the perpetrator can be identified, arrested, and brought to justice, NERV personnel are to remain on alert.

(OOC: The radiation part is BS! Nonetheless, that's the official statement that's been given to NERV. Kaworu's current location remains undisclosed.)
