Tempo Astelian has not always had the easiest time fitting in with his peers, but coming through fire with his crew has given him a firmer perspective on the matter. A Coordinator from a nation that doeesn't celebrate them, he had trouble in Londo Bell but flourished in the Three Ships Alliance. As Comms Officer on the Ra Mari II, he handles the needs of the crew in a way that looks almost easy--though it absolutely isn't. He has opened up considerably since his early days on the old Ra Mari, but he's hardened a little too--he holds onto his optimism by choice, and it's a choice he has to make every day.

Background

• 0077: Born as a Coordinator to a wealthy couple who turned to the practice after difficulty having children in other ways. His birth took place outside Federation territory, on a 'vacation' for his parents, and this got around the illegality of the procedure.
• 0081: Tempo's little brother is born, without Coordination.
• 0085: In the wake of 30 Bunch and the Titans' rise, the Astelians start to fund the AEUG.
• 0091: Allegations of being a Coordinator see Tempo fail to get into the same prestigious private school as his parents attended; the scandal sees their social profile take a hit, and their business dealings lose a number of partners who are part of increasingly Natural-identitarian groups. Paired with Earthside interests taking a big hit thanks to the disasters around the globe, they have some difficulties... but their sheer wealth insulates them.
• 0093: Tempo's parents announce that their younger son will be heir to their companies, bowing to pressure from anti-Coordinator partners to choose the 'Natural' son over the 'lapse in judgement'. He withdraws socially, but excels in school.
• 0095: Tempo graduates with honors, but is hardly celebrated. He signs up with Londo Bell this year. While worried he will deal with more of the same sentiment as at home, instead he develops a friendship with one Eight York, who helps him learn to open up to others. He is very successful, making friends among the crew and proving himself skilled in logistical matters. Additionally The Winter Wonderland incident occurs, and Tempo helps his friend and superior officer Eight York organize and lead the remaining crew. His is promoted, and succeeds York as Comms Officer aboard the Ra Mari.
• 0097: Defects with the rest of the Ra Mari to form the 3SA. Mistrusting the Sleeves on the Ra Mari II, he is part of an effort to train in case of their betrayal; when this leads to an uprising on the ship, he is a major figure on the Captain's side. This experience changes him somewhat, forcing him to mature, and he comes out of it still optimistic but less naive.
• 0098: Joins the Magallanica Defense Force with the rest of the Ra Mari II.

Resources

Tempo Astelian oversees the personnel and communications of the entire Ra Mari II, and now as part of the Magallanica Defense Force he draws a very good salary as Lieutenant Commander.

He has a number of friends now, but his relationship with his family is quite strained. Most of his connections remain in the former Alliance and in Terminal.

He is however up on the most current intelligence on the Ra Mari II; he's inherited Enba Rezza's spy network aboard the ship.
