Date: 2022-05-26
Summary: Julia, experiencing boredom, decides to make a power play.
The life of a glamorous super-thief isn't always incredibly exciting. Take today, for instance. Today, Julia finds herself reclining lazily in a chair, head propped up with one arm as she scrolls through news articles on her phone with the other. With the exception of visiting that fascinating convention the other week, she doesn't feel like she's accomplished much. It feels remarkably like she's been spinning her wheels lately, when she reads up on everything that's been going on in the world lately.
The excitement! The intrigue! And here she is, missing it all. Of course, a thief should act in secret, but that doesn't always lead to the most entertaining lifestyle. With a sigh she spins lazily in the chair, stopping herself to press a few keys on the keyboard in front of her. The keyboard is connected to a computer system. The computer systems are connected to a series of monitors, whose outputs have been overwritten with static with the exception of one meant to display information the facility she's currently in - a remote power plant.
Notably, this is not her computer nor her power plant, though hers is much like it. This isn't her /chair/ either, though she likes it enough that she might take it with her when she leaves. No, if it were her computer, the security would have been /much/ more difficult to defeat. It had been much too easy - it only took the insertion of a stick and a few keystrokes and it was already under her complete control so that she could shut down security and the power fluctuation monitoring system.
And as for the /human/ security team, it was very light today. Light enough for her to send a few Electrocrawlers to grab them, tie them up, and lock them in a parts closet(they'll be released once she's done here, of course, she's not a monster). That was by her design of course, the result of infiltration and manipulation of the schedule ahead of time, but that's just splitting hairs. It doesn't change the fact that this doesn't feel like an earned victory in the slightest.
With another sigh Julia spins in her chair again, once more tapping through her phone... when she stops herself, as she comes across an interesting article.
"...Nouvelle Tokyo, huh." Julia murmurs to herself, tapping the screen. ...There's a thought. It's been a hotbed of activity lately. She could easily claim a slice of that pie for herself - and if she did, she'd probably attract quite a bit of attention. ...Fortunately, attention is exactly what she could use right now.
With that decision made Julia stands up, hefting the chair over one shoulder. With her free hand she taps a button on her phone, sending out a signal to her minions to finish their current duties and prepare to retreat. She's probably acquired enough energy to meet her quota, anyway. For now, though...
"Time to go and get ready to shake the hornet's nest." Julia says to herself, stowing the phone away. This could be the kind of excitement she's been missing out on.
