The de facto currency of the OCU. All OCU nations are required to transact in all OCU legal tender using on-the-fly point of service exchange system technology, but the largest former Earth Federation mint in the OCU was located in Hokkaido, making it easiest for Japan to begin issuing new coinage after its departure from the Federation.

The yen is weak relative to the gilla (still legal tender under NUNE). It is currently worth roughly .0064 Britannian dollars (or .0071 luke).
