X Project

The "X Project" was a set of weapons of last resort created late in the One Year War in the Republic of East Asia. Making use of the Flash System, these mobile suits were radically more powerful than most of what was rolled out during the war, comparing favorably to even the RX-78NT "Alex." These marked a significant departure from the human wave tactics usually favored in the Republic of East Asia; between their unfriendliness for REA military doctrine and their astronomical expense, the X Project ultimately saw only a small handful of units produced. Worse, most of these units were lost in a battle with the Principality of Zeon late in the war.

Officially, these weapons never existed, and the REA refuses to acknowledge them. A handful have been recovered in the last decade, primarily by Vultures but also by governments and NGOs.
