"Cast in the name of God, Ye Not Guilty."

The Big O is a two-season mecha anime, renewed after it found a large audience in America. Drawing heavily on dark, stylized looks with Art Deco influences similar to those seen in 1990s animated Batman content, film noir, and 1950s and 60s tokusatsu productions, Big O starts out as an episodic mecha-of-the-week show and eventually moves toward conspiracy and metafiction elements.

The Big O

The Big O highlights the adventures of Roger Smith, a 'Negotiator' in a post-apocalyptic police state within a glass dome. Alongside his ward, an android named R. Dorothy Wayneright, Roger deals with Paradigm City's negotiations and fights giant monsters and mecha while pursuing the mysteries of Paradigm City itself.

Integration Notes

The following are general notes about the integration of The Big O:

  • Paradigm is a domed city which appeared in the ruins of New Yark at some point following Getter 1's detonation. It is shrouded in electromagnetic mist, similar to the mist surrounding the Kyushu Zone.
  • Paradigm City has a very different history from the rest of the world, in that it has no history. It has experienced 40 years in relative stasis in the shape it is in in canon, with domed cities and a vast wasteland surrounding them, with no clarity on if anything “outside” really exists.

The following items have changed from canon:

  • The "stage dressing" above the domed cities and the wasteland is present, but not visible under normal circumstances. The mist obscures these things; PCs cannot see them, and much like in Tsutsujidai as it presently stands, achieving a high flight ceiling to actually touch or see them is difficult (in Paradigm’s case, due to the mist).
  • While this is less of a difference and more of an interpretational point, a great deal of the particulars of Paradigm City as a setting have been nailed down to work with SRTMOO’s dimensional physics and backstory. These details primarily affect an Angel, Schwarzwald, or Alex applicant and will be made available to players of those characters.
  • Instead of simply having access to a variety of artillery pieces and APCs, the Paradigm Police Department has access to a variety of Manual and Autobalanced units. Curiously, their mainstays include UC Gundam’s Galbaldy Beta and Shin Mazinger’s Baion Beta.
