A sub-flight system is essentially a sled for mobile weapons. These are by far the most common at the mobile suit scale, as they hid the comparatively weak land speed of mobile suits on Earth during the One Year War.
A sub-flight system allows the mobile suit to fly, and even hover; however, mobility tends to be a wash, overall.
