While human-scale androids are technically possible and have been for over a decade, this is still mostly a cost-prohibitive endeavor and heavily stigmatized besides.
Early advances in both micro-scale Super AI and cybernetics led to various upheavals, including Sharon Apple, Dr. Hell's Gamia Q assassin units, and (arguably) the Devil Gundam, and as a result, trust in human-passing androids is culturally very low.
