G-Hound

G-Hound is the current public-facing name for the armed division of the Romefeller Foundation. The Romefeller Foundation -- and its numerous satellite organizations -- have done their best to control the reins of power within the Federation since before there was a Federation to control. It traces its origins back to European aristocracy prior to the rise of nationalism, but has expanded well beyond its initial nature as a secret society. As times have changed, so too has the scope of the Romefeller Foundation (and its armed wing, the Organization of the Zodiac), though its goal remains control of a substantially-unified world.

During the 0070s, the Romefeller Foundation made its devil's bargain, fusing with LOGOS, an ideologically similar organization based in the Union. This gave Romefeller access to LOGOS's prodigious mobile weapon production capacity, enabling it to slowly wind itself around and into the Federation's military, like a tapeworm. It also enabled anti-Coordinator sentiment to wind its way into the ranks through LOGOS's primary recruiting ground, Blue Cosmos, despite the large number of old-money Europeans with Coordinator families. (Some of these actually left Romefeller entirely; the PLANTs' militia and dominant political party being referred to as the Zodiac Alliance is not an accident.)

The Romefeller Foundation holds many of the levers of power within the Federation. Through Muruta Azrael and Duke Dermail Catalonia, it directly influences major policies, and is able to directly leverage the Union's military forces toward its own ends. It holds modest influence in the AEU, but due to the exodus of now-Coordinator families, that influence has lessened.

Organizational Structure

Romefeller: the 'historical' organization. Aristocratic in origin and primarily based in the AEU, the Romefeller Foundation has manipulated conflict to shore up arms profits for centuries.

LOGOS: Insofar as Romefeller has factions within itself, LOGOS -- which recently syncretized with OZ and operated primarily in the Britannian Union -- leads the way. LOGOS interfaces most directly with the levers of governmental power (though Duke Dermail Catalonia, of Romefeller proper, holds the single highest office controlled by Romefeller).

Organization of the Zodiac: The formalized military wing of the Romefeller Foundation. Strictly speaking, the "Organization of the Zodiac" doesn't exist as a cohesive, singular unit in a way an outside observer could see; instead, it consists of numerous military units across all political blocs that owe their true allegiance to Romefeller. The largest public-facing organization within the Organization of the Zodiac, G-Hound, is a cross-bloc autonomous unit in the vein of Londo Bell.

Blue Cosmos: The most obvious catspaw for recruitment into the Romefeller infrastructure, Blue Cosmos is a Natural identitarian organization masquerading as an environmental group.

Major Characters

Adler Koch and Aguila Setme - This pair of researchers contributes much to the Organization of the Zodiac's force strength. The two operate The School, a LOGOS human enhancement project. The two of them have no grand loyalty to the idea of ancient nobility nor Natural supremacy, but Romefeller money goes a long way in generating a lot of teenagers to do a lot of war crimes incredibly quickly.

Duke Dermail Catalonia - The leader of Romefeller, and one of the few members to hold direct, formal governmental power in the Federation. His seat on the Central Council means he commands considerable authority within the organization, as he is best-positioned to get things done.

Lord Djibril - The leader of LOGOS. Lord Djibril, like many in Blue Cosmos, is hostile to Coordinators, and has been able to turn frustration with the departure of Coordinator members from Romefeller toward this cause. Unlike Azrael, Djibril is patient and sees no reason to take the field personally or aggress very much; he is content to put information where it needs to be and watch it go.

Leon Mishima - A member of the recalled Macross Frontier Fleet, serving under Councillor in Charge of Recalled Colonization Fleets Howard Glass. Leon has ambitions that outstrip his station and sees a partnership with Romefeller as the fastest route thereto. He is relatively discreet about this relationship.

Muruta Azrael - The public face of the 'loud' elements of the organization, which are mostly synonymous with Blue Cosmos. Muruta Azrael owes no grand loyalty to Britannia, and if the rubber were to hit the road, Blue Cosmos and LOGOS would be his primary home. He also serves as majority leader of the Federation Assembly.

Schneizel el Britannia - Schneizel el Britannia is a recent attachment to Romefeller, owing to connections with LOGOS that he has not shared with the rest of the royal family. Supporting them allows him access to information and resources he might not otherwise have.

Treize Khushrenada - The leader of the Organization of the Zodiac, and by extension, multiple cross-bloc autonomous forces, including G-Hound. Treize Khushrenada commands the loyalty of many rank and file soldiers.

Tubarov Bilmon - Chief Engineer of the Romefeller Foundation, Tubarov is a short-tempered man who wishes to replace OZ with a legion of automated units.

Key Questions

  • Does making war "safer" for civilians justify making it radically worse on its participants?
