Dozoo Degwa

A puzzle game popularized in Zeon during the late 0070s.

Dozoo Degwa is a little like Puyo Puyo or Tetris; it involves matching colored orbs together into various patterns (typically crosses, blocks, and other shapes), which are shot out to fill variously-shaped fields (such as Mobile Suits' heads, colonies, and famous landmarks). Dozoo Degwa has had dozens of releases and is popular throughout the Earth Sphere, despite its origins. Later releases toned down some of the Zeonic iconography (which had fairly nationalist backgrounds and fields that looked like Zaku heads) and became much more friendly to Federation markets.

Dozoo Degwa Releases

  • UC 0080: Dozoo Degwa (the original). It had more Zeon-inspired imagery than most later titles.
  • UC 0082: Dozoo Degwa Mists. A very popular expansion of the original, which reached a broader audience.
  • UC 0084: Dozoo Dega Smiling With the Skies. This one had a troubled release, as it had less Zeonic imagery right after Operation Stardust, and was seen as controversial.
  • UC 0085: Dozoo Degwa Valiant Eye. This one had extensive Zeonic imagery, because it was made on Axis, and was very popular in Zeon-held territories in the first two Neo-Zeon wars. Now, it is a collector's item, and hard to find because it isn't distributed.
  • UC 0085: Dozoo Degwa CT Winsome Big Tray. This one was more popular across the Earth Sphere; it was made by a Republic of Zeon development team, and it prominently included battleship-themed stages.
  • UC 0089: Dozoo Degwa H3 Hika Hekka Hucco. This one involved fantasy versions of Federation and Zeon mobile weaponry.
  • UC 0092: Dozoo Degwa DX Kanpeito Kampello: The currently most-complete, most commonly played game competitively. It introduced moving stages, which are very popular, and it's had a long DLC life.
  • UC 0094: Dozoo Degwa Smiling With the Skies 94 edition. This remake of the UC 0084 game, a year after Axis Shock, was ill-advised and the game sold poorly. It also didn't update the systems nearly enough and was divisive with fans. It is rarely played competitive.
  • UC 0096: Dozoo Degwa MP Mako Popeka: The most recent release. It has moving stages from DX Kanpeito Kampello, but much fewer stages and subsystems overall. It is slowly gaining traction in the competition scene, and has sold well, but somehow always lags behind the venerable Kanpeito Kampello.
