Boson Jump

A Boson Jump is a form of FTL travel currently used exclusively by the Jovian Lizards. In a Boson Jump, the jumping entity uses a Chulip crystal or Chulip to communicate with a central calculation unit at an unknown location, which then calculates a path through spacetime for the unit. Organic matter is difficult if not impossible to move via Boson Jump at this time, though the Jovian Lizards have managed it.

While Fold can travel farther faster (for the moment), Boson Jumping has virtually zero power requirement. This lack of appreciable power requirement is currently considered the best explanation of why the prehistoric Martian super-civilization apparently continued to use Boson Jumping as a travel mechanism for long distances well after its discovery of Fold technology.
