When Char's Neo Zeon was defeated, many fleeing pilots joined the Sleeves and brought with them valuable data on Londo Bell's combat strength. Full Frontal quickly realized his forces would need an updated mobile suit to face them, and Anaheim Electronics proposed the Geara Zulu based on the lessons learned from their well-received Geara Doga. A Zaku style design, the Geara Zulu carries a beam machine gun with attached grenade launcher for reliable mid-range firepower. At closer ranges, a set of hand grenades and a beam tomahawk allow skilled pilots to attack from a variety of angles. An integrated shoulder shield protects the Geara Zulu from flanking attacks, and it also has a mounting point to store a cut-down version of the MMP-80 machine gun. Finally, a large single-shot rocket launcher (effectively a sturmfaust) provides a light and disposable way to inflict heavy damage on enemy battleships. While not as versatile as the Geara Doga, the lighter weapons payload allows it to keep pace with most contemporary mobile suits. The Sleeves seem quite happy with their new general purpose MS, and are eager to pit it against the Federation.
History
In addition to being used by the Sleeves, the Geara Zulu had several purchased by PMCs including the Zeonic Remnant mercenaries aboard the Garancieres under Suberoa Zinnerman and the Crescents under Tsugumi Saionji, with their own respective color schemes painted on.
