WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE WHERE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE
The Empress is... upset.
Yuliana left Her. In leaving this reality, she left Her sight; She could not feel her, beyond the veil, any more. And of course Yuliana came back to Her, but...
... she has a lot to answer for, when she goes to sleep.
Thus when she wakes -- or when she is woken -- she grasps Elisa's nightgown tightly, tugging at her. "Where?! She cannot be lost! What rock, what shadow veils?! All is Yours, and cannot outside all--! Demands undenied! Now! Now!" Her breath comes shallow, as those demands rock through her, eyes wild and unfocused.
At least... she managed to sleep a while. She was so tired, when she got back... she couldn't even explain, but to say she was all right.
<Pose Tracker> Elisa Kafim has posed.
Elisa cannot hear Her voice so freely as Yuliana does. That may be for the best.
Elisa wakes Yuliana when the nightmare grows too fierce. She listens, when that shallow-breathed set of words comes.
"Yuliana," Elisa says. "Return to me."
She did not explain. That gives Elisa stress. But she can wait through that. She can endure.
"Awaken."
<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Kafim has posed.
Is she awake, caught, here, between one world and the other? Tangled in two viewpoints and none, as words course through her throat in scouring revelation?
Perhaps it is wise of Elisa to tell her wife to wake into this world again.
Yuliana draws in a shuddering gasp, and sighs, collapsing against Elisa's chest. (Her tattoo is healing nicely.) The tentacles wrapped about Elisa curl in tighter, as she buries herself in against her, legs all atangle.
"She... couldn't... find me," she finds the words, at length, nosing at Elisa's neck. "She was... upset... it's all right. I reassured Her..."
But it's Elisa she curls into, a hand reaching up to her cheek. "I'm here..." She doesn't just have to tell Her, does she?
<Pose Tracker> Elisa Kafim has posed.
Elisa is many things. Perhaps today 'wise' can be one of them.
Elisa holds Yuliana regardless, and listens, when she finds the words. She holds onto her strongly, with a grip that is gentle but very secure. She listens, and--
"Yes, I imagine She was." A pause.
"...And yes, you are. I see you. I feel you."
"Did you accomplish what you intended, my darling? I could not find you either, for a time. As I suspected, the machinations of Dr. Hell clouded even my Sight."
"...But you have returned to me. So I ask: did you accomplish that which you departed for?"
<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Kafim has posed.
And Yuliana is glad to feel her grasp; there is safety, here, in Elisa's arms. She is always so gentle, with her, and she never fears to be crushed. (Certainly Elisa could, but she never would.)
She pauses, considering Elisa's question, laying in her arms. Her head rests on her shoulder, and she gazes up to her, as she reaches up to stroke her cheek. "I think... I did," she says, thoughtfully. "In a way... but I'm different, now, too. Even Dr. Hell realised... I'd changed so much, since last time. There are things I couldn't say so plainly, now... and I wouldn't have thought to use my gifts back then the way I did now, either."
Her lashes veil, over her eyes, and she speaks softly. "It's bittersweet, but... I'm glad, at least, to see him dead again. He wished to change reality, you know... he plunged us into different worlds, different 'Possibilities', with the power of that Goragon. Worlds where I was normal... worlds where I was awful. And worlds where other people saved me..." Yuliana blinks, slowly, and her brow knits as she looks to her wife.
"... but if I accepted a world like that... I was sure I'd leave Her behind, since She's not of this reality. She might never find the way to grasp that new one... I couldn't abandon Her like that. Because if I left Her, I'd leave any hope of reuniting you with Yourself, just the same..."

Elisa looks down, in turn. She watches; she waits. Different, Yuliana says. "Did he, now? That is good." She considers. Bittersweet, but...
"If you did what you must, then it is well. I am glad that you were able. I worried, but... This was important to you, I know. And indeed, you have saved more than just this world--you have saved the possibility of the next."
Worlds where she was 'normal'. Worlds where she was awful. Worlds where...
"I suppose in that mass of Possibility you must have seen many things. But you chose to return to me. ...To Us."
"No, you would not leave me so easily," Elisa says. "...It is difficult, to be part, rather than whole. But I would do it again, and again, for you."
"Welcome home, my Yuliana."
<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Kafim has posed.
"You were so patient," Yuliana smiles, fingers playing gently along that fringe at Elisa's ear. "And so considerate. Thank you, zhenushka. Without your support, I could not have achieved such a thing." And she is warm, as she expresses her gratitude for her wife.
She's saved the next world, too... the possibility she still yearns for.
"I promised I'd come back," Yuliana says, gently. "And how precious it is to come home to such a loving welcome... and to your willingness to do these things for me."
She sighs, as her fingers still, and trouble stirs at the edges of her heart. "There was a world... where I didn't," she says, a touch sadder, and a little more reluctant. She hates to tell her wife something so hurtful, but... she can't keep it from her, either. "You were different, then... pushing for next time, instead of worried for me. In that world, I thought you only cared for becoming whole, so I -- I ran away. I left. It was an awful Possiblity, Elya... the Possibility of Betrayal."
She frowns, her lips all twisted together tightly; her fang digs into her bottom lip. "Of course I rejected it," she says, "but I'm grieved that there's a version of me who would..."
<Pose Tracker> Elisa Kafim has posed.
"You are welcome. You should achieve your dreams, my Yuliana. Not only our dreams. That is... something I wish to see."
But she promised. And Elisa smiles at that, strokes Yuliana's cheek.
But trouble in her heart...
Yes. "I see..."
She considers, at length. She is pensive, thoughtful, until, "...The Possibility of Betrayal..."
"It sounds as if this 'other me', too, was a traitor. A traitor to her wife's needs. Clearly it was a world unworthy of both of us."
She shakes her head. "I know that you would. I do not consider it a grief. Of the many Possibilities, we shall narrow them to one. That one shall be the one we pursue."
"And from there, countless will open again. In our image."
<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Kafim has posed.
"Oh, Elya," Yuliana murmurs, and her smile all but glows. Of course Elisa wants her to achieve her dreams! "Your dreams, too, are precious to me..."
Of course she believes in Elisa's dreams. Elisa is allowed to have dreams, too. Has Elisa thought about her dreams?
Her gaze goes dreamily lovey-dovey, for a moment, feeling Elisa's fingers on her cheek. Of course she can tell her wife anything; her wife loves her so. Even if it's troubling...
"Ah... yes, that's right, isn't it?" She wonders, when Elisa points out that the other Elisa as as much a traitor. She'd not thought of her crimes, so wrapped up was she in hers.
But of course, more than anything, she is wrapped up in Elisa. "Yes," she murmurs, fingers curling fondly through Elisa's hair. "It's good to have focus, isn't it? You've always understood that better than I have, zhenushka..."
She sighs. "... but not all of the Possibilities were awful. Yes... in many, I wasn't married, but... there was one, you know, where we met even though I never went through those awful experiments. I was a mechanic, and you needed machines for your work with kaiju... we were park rangers, Elya!" She giggles, as she unveils it. "Haha... isn't it funny?"
<Pose Tracker> Elisa Kafim has posed.
Her own dreams... Perhaps she hasn't thought much of them. Perhaps she will.
"Thank you," Elisa says, and then--That's right, isn't it? "Of course. I have my obligations to you, as well. If I am not meeting them, then you should tell me so. As you have, in the past."
She pauses. To have focus... Hmmm. Yes. "Focus is easy for me, for I have a difficult time engaging with this world. But I must push through that difficulty, and learn it as you have, just as you can learn focus from me."
A pause. Not all were awful... Elisa smiles, thoughtfully. "I could see that," she says. "If I had kept up my kaiju research..."
"Well. I could be 'happy' in that way, I think. I could enjoy a simple life with you. Even if you were unable to restore me, even if you could not sense Her and Me, then I would love you."
"...That you are willing to help even though it is difficult is something I appreciate. I do consider it my duty to bring you and my own Self together..."
"But I would love you regardless."
<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Kafim has posed.
"Yes," Yuliana agrees, easily, when Elisa brings up her own obligations. She loves her all the more, for her willingness to adapt.
Other people may try to say their relationship is wrong... but how can it be, when Elisa attends to problems so thoughtfully once she's aware of them? Those people... just aren't fair to her at all!
She smiles, as well, to hear Elisa speaking of the difficulties she's pushing through. "We have much to learn from each other," she agrees, just as easily. "It's wonderful, isn't it..?"
And some of those Possibilities, too, were more wonderful.
There's a yearning glimmer, in Yuliana's eyes, when Elisa talks about that simple life, but she doesn't speak of it immediately; instead, she nods, to Elisa's appreciation. "And I can't leave you to be half of Yourself, Elya," she agrees, all too easily, nuzzling her cheek into Elisa's shoulder. "Not after you went so far for me... but... I'm so glad to hear that. I would love you, just the same..."
She sighs, with a smile. "Haa... going out to some remote land, living quietly with you and our family... it really was difficult to turn away from something like that. I wouldn't mind abandoning the hustle and bustle of society, so long as I was with you... it would be nice if we could." Tilting her head, she gazes up, to her wife. "Maybe... once we've saved everyone... we can just go off on our own and take care of something far away. Wouldn't that be fine, Elya...?"
<Pose Tracker> Elisa Kafim has posed.
Other people can say what they will. Elisa doesn't care much. ...Unfortunately, Yuliana cares rather a lot...
"We do. And it is wonderful," she agrees. "We shall see much. Do much. Together."
That yearning... She smiles, when Yuliana agrees, when she says she will not leave her. There is certainly a part of Elisa that would leave much of this behind...
But it is only a fancy. It is not reasonable.
"Good." She strokes Yuliana's cheek. Then, she smiles. "I would like this as well," Elisa says, "Though I have never needed the crowds."
"Perhaps once we have changed the world... we can do this. There will be plenty of room for many ways of being, in the world to come. Why not our own?"
<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Kafim has posed.
Yuliana has always been a very sensitive woman, for all she lambasted the sensitive. No wonder she cares so much for the opinions of others.
"Together," she echoes Elisa, smiling.
Is it a fancy? Is it unreasonable? Surely it must be; she's often an unreasonable woman, often given to her fancies. Even so...
Her eyelids flicker, with an appreciative wordless murmur, feeling Elisa's fingers on her cheek. "I like the quiet," she says. "Guess I'm a country girl..."
She hums, her own fingers curling at the base of Elisa's ear. "Yes... that would be nice..." Yuliana murmurs, all affection. "And it wouldn't be so hard... if the world where I was the Empress adoring you was any indication. It's not difficult to find a quiet place, in that kind of world..."
<Pose Tracker> Elisa Kafim has posed.
Elisa also enjoys quiet, as a rule. But then, she can find quiet anywhere. This is not always a good thing. She smiles, all the same. "My country girl, then."
Then, she tilts her head. "A world where you were the Empress...?" Elisa smiles. "How fascinating," she says. "Yes, if you have Seen such a possibility, then you understand what I mean. It would be easy..."
She is enticed by this possibility. "Let us stay here for a while yet."
