  • Summary: The man who is both God and Devil prepares his return.

There once was a boy.

He was smarter than everyone around him. His fellow children. His parents. His teachers.

They didn't understand him.

They couldn't understand him.

They shunned him in their little village, yet revered what he'd do for them at the same time. His ability to innovate, create, solve their problems made him important - but they barely ever saw him as human.

He was a god. Or perhaps - a devil.

Yet, he could not embrace it.

The boy became a teenager.

The teenager went to school in the city. He saw many wondrous things.

His teachers for once accepted him more than the village, yet they put him at arm's length even so.

His skills were too much. He was far too intelligent for them, even if they could finally speak with him on a level he could reciprocate.

He flourished in multiple studies at once - medicine, robotics, archaeology, and little things in between.

Yet, even then, he was lonely. Those who came close to him could not see past his exterior into the brilliant, kind young man he was. He had great beliefs in humanity. In their potential.

But the individuals he met were unable to communicate with him, and even those he was eventually fond of had left him.

He grew angry, yet held onto his hope in mankind, even as he grew disillusioned.

He was a devil. Or perhaps - a god.

Yet, he could not embrace it.

The teenager became a man.

The man, fresh out of college, joined the warfront. The alien had arrived, and it threatened humanity.

The bloodshed shook him. He never took a life - no, he saved them - but his hope in humanity started to be dashed.

Yet, despite this, hope still was there for him. When the alien threatened him, a fellow from the opposite end of the stars risked himself for him. The man shed tears among the blood, yet for once, found something to care about.

He never forgot, even as they parted ways

And then, the alien was fought off with a song. A soul from the hopes of the heart, one that showed love and compassion.

The voice of an angel soothed the man's heart, and for once, that was all he was. He embraced it.

No god nor devil. He was a man.

The man became an elder.

He left on a trip with comrades. Intense yet determined, the song of the angel stuck with him, and he sought to find knowledge to better mankind.

Yet the island only proved that he was wrong.

The past was cyclical. The wars he saw now were not a one-time occurrence - people would fight, and die, and save, and win. Yet it would repeat.

The song was a fluke, not a solution to the world.

Indeed, the world would return to war, he realized years before it ever did. Humanity was cyclical.

The comrades questioned his sudden change in resolve. They were intelligent, yet…

They were not his equals. Even now, he had none.

Their blood and bodies sank into the island, yet one escaped. The elder could not forget the man's fear.

He retreated into the island's depths, and he took the past, and planned to build a future for the humanity he loved.

He was no man. He would be a god and a devil.

The elder became a villain.

The villain's first action was years later, where he found the fellow from the war. The man bled from the neck, and there was no hope for him.

Yet, the villain still believed in miracles, and he performed one. His first friend saved by a song of his own making.

Yet even then, his heart didn't warm, and he combined fragments of the past to aid in him stealing the future.

Yet the fearful comrade of the elder had created a threat. A boy who risked everything.

The villain and the boy strifed. And everytime, the boy overcame the villain's plots to change humanity's path, which he had correctly foresaw.

The boy took the villain's life in the end.

And yet, the villain returned.

And yet, another inheritor rose, and slew him once more.

And so, peace was had.

The villain slumbered.

Yet potential still existed, and that potential brought him and his miracles back.

The villain saw the world. His allies tirelessly continue to fought for him. And yet, it was all falling apart.

And so he saw the potential, and decided to seize it.

No more would he seek the future from the past.

He would change it in his image, and give the humanity he loved a fresh start.

And so, he whispered from his lips…

'Tonight, I shall play the god. Yet the devil I truly am.'

Goragon awaits.
