  • Summary: Yuliana has a chance encounter with Koji, and decides on a whim to invite him to her wedding, because he's the sort of person she can be genuinely concerned about. From 'Captain Dispersal' and 'Dr. Kabuto', they move to 'Yuliana' and 'Koji'.

Yuliana... has time off work to finish preparations for her wedding! And today, her task is:

Making sure the lighting will be delivered.

In her usual dark suit and her usual far-more cheerful scarf (this one is a familiar shade of purple), Yuliana steps out of a storefront boasting the particular electronics particular to illumination, folding a copy of an invoice and tucking it into her pocket. One might ask why she's gone to the OCU for something like this, but, well -- it's undeniable that Fujinomiya City are specialists in this sort of thing. If one were to want the best...

She reaches a hand up to brush at -- bangs which aren't there any more, a thing she's still not managed to internalise. (They were clipped away after Torrington to allow the doctors to dress a wound on her face; the scar running down the left side of her face is on full display, now.) With a little puff of a breath, she shrugs, and starts down the city street.

Perhaps she'll stop in for gelato...

It's a bright, sunny day in Fujinomiya, but winter's briskness nevertheless clutches at the streets, even though it's not a particularly windy day.

Koji, clad in a winter duffel coat, is also out on the street; he's just stepped out of a grocer's with a bag full of apples and is heading over to his motorbike parked outside, to load his spoils into the tail pack mounted behind its saddle.

The way he seems to favour his left side suggests he's had a recent injury, but it doesn't seem to be too bad on him. Certainly not enough to stop him gallivanting around on a motorcycle, but, that's Koji Kabuto for you.

Captain Yuliana Dispersal, suddenly on the hunt for gelato, happens to come across something else, when her gaze casts across a grocer.

She smiles, and steps in towards Koji and his motorcycle.

Notably, her suit isn't particularly inured against the weather; the sleeves are long, but she's not wearing any particular coat on top. She doesn't look particularly bothered by the cold, though, for all her appearance is suggestive of someone whose native seasons are 'dry' and 'monsoon' rather than 'summer' and 'winter'.

(It's a sunny day; in Zaftra, they call it shorts weather.)

"Are you all right with that, Dr. Kabuto?" Yuliana ventures out, as she approaches, kindly of voice and expression. "Need any help?"

Koji starts a little when Yuliana calls out, turning to face her. "Captain Dispersal. We seem to cross paths in the city surprisingly frequently - though, perhaps not that surprisingly, given you and Boss are old friends." He smiles, a little thinly. "I would actually appreciate the help, I got roughed up a little recently and the bruising on my ribs is still tender."

He passes Yuliana the bag of apples and starts opening up the pack on his bike. "The Goldion Hammer is a hell of a thing to try and defend against, turns out."

Yuliana takes the bag of apples -- handles it gently; there is nothing worse, after all, than a bruised apple. Except, perhaps, for bruised ribs! "The Goldion Hammer, huh," she frowns, in concern. "Yes... I can see how you'd be battered, after that. Congratulations on your survival." It's an entirely genuine remark.

She shakes her head, glancing back down the street. "I'm actually on leave at the moment," she explains, allowingly, attention orienting back to Koji. "I'm out here making sure a few arrangements for my wedding are in place -- the lighting, you understand. I've arranged a rural destination to avoid any..."

Yuliana pauses, delicately, finger tapping lightly on the pack of apples. "... temptations for ne'er-do-wells to interrupt the proceedings," she settles on, after a moment. "And while I can certainly make my guests aware that violence isn't appropriate to this venue, well... best to ensure no one can drop in with complaints, as it were." It's the sort of thing which -- well, perhaps it's not so strange that Yuliana would have to plan around it, anyway.

        Special operatives aren't always popular.

"Worse - Turns out they'd managed to dredge up Titan G9 from the bad old days to attach Goldymarg to, so that wasn't great!" Koji sighs. "At least I know how to fight that big lug, even in an Ichinana."

Yuliana explains why she's here and he nods. "Yeah - I can imagine that getting every detail just right is a big deal. A rural destination? Somewhere in Zaftra, I suppose."

He considers the implication about possible threats, frowning. "I'm sure if I ever publicly announced a wedding, Brocken would eagerly show up to make a mess of it, yeah, since turns out we didn't get rid of him as cleanly as we'd have liked to."

"Oh no," Yuliana winces, when Koji explains what else he was up against. "And in an Ichinana? No wonder you're bruised." Her sympathy sounds entirely genuine; she does feel badly for Koji, running into those misfortunes.

(Koji, after all, is a normal person.)

She nods, though, with a smile. "Yes, Zaftra, that's right," she says, on their destination. "We could have gone to Indonesia, I suppose, but -- well, it's a little harder to find a quiet place there, these days." What with the sea levels rising, and all.

"And yes -- I've quite a few Brockens of my own, given my long service," Yuliana shrugs, with light regret. "Though it's a shame to hear Brocken himself is still about, after everything. Time to kill him twice, I suppose!"

Yuliana pauses, for a moment, considering...

"You know," she says, because Koji is a normal person, "I don't suppose you'd like to come along, would you, Dr. Kabuto? It may be a more relaxing Friday than getting into another scrape, given you ought to take it easy."

Koji shrugs - and winces, grinning at his own foolishness. "It was rough, yeah, but a good fight." He pauses when Yuliana mentions killing Brocken twice, counting in his head. "It would probably be at least three times, since, y'know, he was decapitated before Hell got to him. Who knows how many it'll take to put him in the dirt properly. Maybe I should find a good crossroads to serve as the burial site."

He thinks for a moment. "... A wedding would be a nice change of pace, and I haven't been to one since Tetsuya and Jun's. Sure."

<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Dispersal has posed.

"Or just bury each part separately," Yuliana suggests, all too casually. "It would at least slow him down." Unfortunately, the idea that dismemberment wouldn't kill someone is... strikingly normal, to Yuliana.

All too normal, given her dreams.

        Anyway.

"Wonderful!" She says, instead, moving on from her easy acceptance of Brocken's peculiarities to Koji's acceptance of hers. "I'll have an invitation delivered with the details -- and if you'd like to bring someone with you, you're quite welcome. You'll need to arrange your own transport, of course, but I'm sure that won't be an issue for you."

She smiles, glancing down to her hand, and the engagement ring seated on her finger. (Made of fine gold, diamond, and emerald, it speaks to an exorbitant salary.) "I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting my fiancee, too," Yuliana says, with new affection in her voice. "She's really the most wonderful woman... though she isn't military, so she tends to keep to herself in these conflicts, you see." That Yuliana is marrying a civilian -- may or may not be surprising, all told.

"Bury his head in Japan and his body in. I don't know. Somewhere on the Moon?" He chuckles slightly. "I'm sure Sayaka would love to come too - and I'd definitely be interested in meeting the sort of woman that would catch your eye."

He looks down at the bag on his bike, fastening it up again. "Thanks for the help, Yuliana. I'd better head back home and get these in the pot for later." He scoops his helmet up off the saddle, somehow managing to squash his ridiculous hair into it with surprising (practiced) ease.

<Pose Tracker> Yuliana Dispersal has posed.

"Sayaka Yumi?" Yuliana confirms, and smiles. "Of course, it would be good to see her. I... hope she's doing all right, after JOSH-A," she settles on, a touch delicately. "Given the military side of things, I've not had much time to follow up with her... I was a little worried."

And she was, in fact, because Yuliana has a certain affection for doctors.

She smiles, again, as she says: "Oh, my fiancee is captivating, I assure you." And in this, at least, Yuliana can be aptly described as a fool in love, even considering her -- let's call it whimsical lexicon, at times.

"Travel well, Koji," she matches his term of address, comfortably, and the fact that she's matching his is its own little allowance. "I hope it cooks up well!"
