  • Summary: As Lina Lombardi awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, she found herself...

I'm above the Earth. There are mobile suits all around me. A battleground.

How did I get here?

I'm in the cockpit of the Alto. There's gunfire everywhere. And in the middle, an asteroid.

The Axis Shock? I was on Earth when that happened…

There's a top of the line suit next to me. I'm familiar with it. How the hell could I not be? It's the Lombardi Custom. Named after the family creed, piloted by…

No! I've never….I never got the chance to fly with him!

…Corporal Felix Lombardi. Papa. He says something to me, I can't hear. Then flies over to the asteroid where multiple suits are pushing back at it, their suits burning hot red in the atmosphere.

He didn't do this! He was gone! How is this picture so clear, I wasn't here…

I'm in Italy. As the battle rages above, I'm in a shelter with my sister. She's scared to death and crying in my arms.

It's going to come down…

Everything disappears. I'm standing in the streets of Torrington. Before me, a white monolith.

Gundam.

It flashes orange and now I'm in a white void. I feel barely here. Do I even have a body? A white unicorn points to the…sky? And a comet bears down on me. I try to run, but nothing moves. It's coming closer, closer, about to impact…

Lina Lombardi jolts awake, covered in sweat. Her breath is shuddered and labored as she darts her head around, taking inventory of her surroundings as she eases into consciousness. It was just her loft. This wasn't the only place she had been waking up in the middle of the night lately.

After the battle at Torrington, Lina had been admitted to G-Hound medical. A physical assessment only found minor sprains in her arm and wrist, but they had elected to let her stay for a few more days for observation. She had been directly in the fray with Amuro Ray…or at least what resembled Amuro Ray, oozing with Triple Zero. With the nontraditional way Algernon spreads, they had wanted to avoid any memetic infection.

She definitely didn't feel any urges to drive the universe towards the Big Crunch, but what she had been suffering from was nightmares. Right now was about the fifth nightmare she had had this week. The hospital had just said it was stress, gave her a clean bill of health, and let her go home.

As Lina shuffled over to her bathroom, her mind struggled to focus. These nightmares…they felt different somehow. More vivid. Ugh, whatever. Doctors were probably right. Last Friday was a hell of a trip for everyone there. Just stressed.

She looked in the mirror, and saw that her cheeks were streaked with tears.

Son of a bitch.
