"This time, I’ll definitely… make you happy."

The Evangelion metaseries began with the original Neon Genesis Evangelion in 1995. Since then, Evangelion has spawned additional, novel content in everything from side manga to video games to pachinko machines, as well as an alternate ending movie, a manga that diverges from the TV series, and a reboot film series that gets steadily more different with each film.

Rebuild of Evangelion

Shinji Ikari, son of NERV commander Gendo Ikari, is called upon to pilot the Evangelion in defense of humanity. Facing life-and-death challenges, he struggles to grow close with others, including his commander and caretaker Misato Katsuragi, his fellow pilots Asuka, Rei, and Mari, his classmates Toji and Kensuke, and -- of course -- his father.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA

Set three years after a major continuity divergence from the original TV series, ANIMA follows the Evangelion team as it continues to defend the world. Unfortunately, its enemies go beyond just Angels; other humans have their own plans, and a mysterious foe, Armaros, looms large.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 2 -Another Cases-

A mid-2000s video game, NGE2 provides insights into the lore of Evangelion through interviews and case files, as well as showing alternative scenarios.

Integration Notes

The following are elements of the Evangelion series that had to bend, change, or be adjusted for integration on SRTMOO.

  • This is a Rebuild-centric integration with ANIMA and Another Cases elements to fill gaps. The reason that the original TV series is not listed as a source on this page is because, to the greatest extent possible, Rebuild of Evangelion 1.x and 2.x have been used to inform character backstories and theme notes.
  • We are starting, essentially, at 2.0. Shinji has been very freshly recruited to pilot an Evangelion unit but has had a couple sorties, and likewise, Asuka will be assigned to NERV's primary base in Japan the instant she is apped and probably not sooner.
  • 3.0 and 3.0+1.0 will likely be difficult to work with, but not insurmountably so. The 14-year timeskip is essentially impossible, but other elements are fine. This could be changed with enthusiasm from an Evangelion cast, of course.
  • Any schism within NERV, whether prompted by its own internal problems or geopolitical issues, will likely use elements of both ANIMA's intra-NERV conflict and Rebuild's NERV/WILLE split.
  • We actually have no specific plans for Mari's affiliations besides NERV, and would be delighted to work with an applicant to come up with something.
  • SEELE intersects with the Geass Directorate in an exciting way. Players of characters who know about this will be made to know about it. (Their pivot to backing NERV, however, is very recent; characters who were merely part of the Geass Directorate at an undefined previous time will not be aware of any particular connections.)
