Introduction

"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx." -- xxxx

1a) Here, we need a name to call you. This doesn't have to be your real name; really, this is mostly about continuity of knowing who you are if you happen to change email addresses or what-have-you.

1b) Likewise, if you play characters here at SRTMOO, list them. If you've played at any other MU*, we'd like to know that, too; we don't necessarily need a full play history, just a general sense of who you are.

Profile

"Listen, uh... you wouldn't by chance happen to have seen this man around the city?" -- Domon Kasshu

2. Please give us the finger profile of the character you'd like to play, if they haven't been made before. If you want changes to an existing finger, please note that you're making changes.

  • Name: What is the character's name? Be as complete as possible.
  • Origin: If the character is an original character, simply type "OC" or "Original Character" here; else, list the series or metaseries they happen to be from.
  • Gender: Whatever gender is appropriate for your character. (MOO, as a codebase, accepts an essentially infinite number of pronoun structures.)
  • Species: Is your character something besides a Natural human? If so, list that here.
  • Job: What role does your character take in the world? (This doesn't necessarily have to be their literal job; "Angry Citizen" is just fine, if it suits the character's circumstances.)
  • Homeland: Where does your character call home? (Takes any argument.)
  • Signature Unit: While your character may pilot many mobile weapons, what is the one that would be most readily associated with them?
  • Profile: Give us 4-8 sentences that would serve as a capsule summary of the character. Examples can be seen on the game by typing (+finger/@dossier) and a character name.
  • Groups: List any groups the character is in. Characters can belong to multiple organizations; the ones created at launch are open to any player character. With the permission of a leader of any future groups, a new character can join those groups as well.

Character Information

"I think it's about time that you revealed what your true intentions are." -- Otto Midas

3a) Tell us the highlights of the character's background. We don't really need a novel, but there's a few questions we'd definitely like to see answered. About a paragraph or two for each should suffice; anything else you want to say would be helpful, too, and there's no shame in spending some time getting acquainted with the world! But these are the questions you should have a good sense of the answers to before playing.

  • 3a1) What made them decide to fight for the world? If the decision to fight was made for them, how was it made for them? Or, if they're not someone who fights, what events most colored their perception of the world?
  • 3a2) How did they gain the power to fight, and access to the units that dominate combat of the era? Or, if they do not fight, what is it that draws them inexorably into the orbit -of- fighting? (Sometimes, this answer is short and sweet.)

3b) What are the core traits of the character's personality? Again, we don't need a novel here unless you want to write one, but there's some questions we'd definitely like to see covered.

  • 3b1) What are your character's core motivations and goals?
  • 3b2) How does your character relate to others?
  • 3b3) What is it they're fighting for in the world? If they don't fight, instead, what do they consider it laudable to fight for?
  • 3b4) How do they feel about the world as it is? If they're satisfied with it, what is it they want to protect? If they're unsatisfied with it, what is it they wish to change?

Mechanical Information

"Gear up, boys! Time to teach those clowns a lesson!" -- Vargas

4. Mechanical Information

  • 5a) Please provide your character's statistical information as a pilot. If you don't feel comfortable generating stats yourself, you can tell us, generally, what your character attempts to do in combat and we'll work to fit something to that line.

A starting character -- FC or OC -- can range in piloting ability from Capable to Expert to Ace to Great Ace. A handful of characters, almost all antagonists, have access to a 5th rank, Extreme. Capable and Expert-tier characters will essentially never be scrutinized over power level; a character starting at Ace or Great Ace should make some narrative sense starting there. (Note, too, that you're not locked into this level of power; it's perfectly appropriate to ask for a bump to a higher tier after a narrative beat you find compelling. Remember to pace yourself, though; the cap is unlikely to rise past Extreme.)

  • 5b) Does your character have any personal units? If no, you don't need to fill out this step at all. Each faction has access to a variety of units in multiple sizes. Faction news files will note what types of units are generally available to each faction, so if you don't want a personal unit, you can make appropriate decisions regarding the character's preferred unit scale.

We ask that all applications use the character sheet located here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-yVWPi2xZKo7cJKdeaQCHSncBd0cMb-c5CfRbvUsuNM/edit#gid=0

Please make a copy, then link us to the copy in the application.

Non-Mechanical Resources

"With the resources we've already sent, Zeon can fight for another ten years, if necessary!" -- M'Quve

5. Does your character have some supernatural ability, great prowess in unarmed combat, some resources beyond those of a typical Neo-Colonial citizen, some heritable title? Great fame, or a major secret in their family history? Mention those sorts of things here. Some characters will have nothing to say here; this is fine.

Final Pre-Flight Checks

All done? Please send your application to staff@srtmoo.net. It should have the following subject line: "FC/OC - Faction - Character Name." Thank you so much!
