- Summary: The Red Comet - no, the Comet of Ruin - announces his return to the Earth Sphere, and with it a declaration: The end is nigh.
A transmission, broadcast to relay satellites and in turn bounced to all receivers on Earth.
A declaration.
A promise.
An ultimatum.
The image flickers for a moment, before resolving into the audience chamber of Palau's governor's estate - and standing at the podium, in full Neo Zeon Regalia:
Char Aznable.
"People of Earth," he announces, raising his arms wide. "I have returned. It has been four years since the Federation thwarted my attempt to drop Axis and kickstart a climate change that would force all humans to emigrate into space and begin the process of becoming something more.
"In that time," he continues, "the elite of the Federation have grown more callow, oppressing their citizens more and more and growing fat off their labour. Child after child is snatched off dilapidated street by their own government's institutions, reforged into weapons to pilot new and terrible mobile weapons by which Earth means to oppress space - who in turn transform machines of exploration and hope into weapons of mass destruction.
"You have taken Amuro Ray's miracle and perverted it, just as Cosmic Law predicts. Your selfishness and greed will condemn the universe - and so I come to you now to stand in judgement."
The room in the image rumbles and shakes.
"Palau has been set on a collision course with Earth. The destruction will be catastrophic.
"Rejoice," the Comet of Ruin proclaims, "For the punishment for sinners and the salvation of the oppressed will come all at once. Know that once the sickness that is humanity's greed is wiped from the cosmos, the universe will finally have a chance to heal."
He gestures, and the feed cuts out.
