Lagrange: The Flower of Rinne
Lagrange: The Flower of Rinne is a 2-cour 2012 original anime, directed by Tatsuo Satou of Nadesico fame. In the same vein as Nadesico, it's an odd duck of a series, colliding an ordinary girl's school life in Japan with the unfolding messy politics of an interstellar war lightyears away. It's never made its way into a Super Robot Wars story beyond an event in a now-defunct mobile game, but it slots in cleanly fleshing out a number of Phase 2 events!
There is also a prequel manga, Dawn of Memoria, detailing life in the Polyhedron, and centering on the backstory of Yurikano and the three students who came to admire her. These events have already happened as of the beginning of Phase 2. (The second half of it never received any sort of translation, sadly, so we're still working on exactly what took place, but the upshot is that it isn't too important for what happens on-MOO.)
Lagrange: The Flower of Rinne
In the ordinary seaside resort town of Kamogawa, high schooler Madoka Kyouno spends her days performing any and all odd jobs for her neighbors and classmates, as the sole member of the 'Jersey Club'. But when a mysterious alien assailant descends to Earth, an equally enigmatic girl named Lan requests Madoka to operate the eerily familiar Vox Aura, and fight in Earth's defense. Little does she know it will entangle her, and Kamogawa, in a conflict spanning the stars and eons alike...but not even the vastness of the cosmos is enough to break the bonds that form.
Integration Notes
- Kamogawa, a beach town an hour south of Tokyo, is part of OCU Free Japan, but is just near enough near to the border with Area 11 that it has a tendency to serve as a point of smuggling people and goods between the two.
- Le Garite is the oldest of several space-faring polities within the Polyhedron star cluster. Through the Zuvorg Alliance, it is in a non-aggression pact with nearby Pentagona and Grados.
- The Polyhedron's inhabitants are human descendants from Earth's precursor civilizations, and have the appropriate species field - typically Natural or Newtype/Psychodriver. (Genetic engineering never caught on in any major capacity, so there's no real parallel to Coordinators - various backstories likely qualify as Boosted Human, and there are a handful of advanced AI projects floating around.)
- De Metrio's exiled prince Villagiulio (and his insurrection movement, Kiss) is a key ally of Daba Myroad's Yaman Rebellion. He's been a major voice driving the voyage of pre-emptively arriving on Earth to defuse motives for Zuvorg Alliance invasion, and attempting to warn the Solar System of their advent.
- Novumundus, and their mobile HQ Pharos, is a confluence of funding and support from secretive Zuvorg Alliance emissaries, the private coffers of the Rochefort family, and collaboration with NERV, which they formally fall under.
- Ovids are the next-generation mobile weapon within the Polyhedron, and are in more limited supply than the newer Super Powered Tracers and old-but-ubiquitous Heavy Metals. They are somewhat typical advanced Autobalanced mobile weapons, though a Vox is fully Mental instead. Original custom Ovids exist aplenty and are right around what you'd expect for an OC unit from the Polyhedron - there are only three Vox units, however.
- The Rinne is another name for the Omnisphere / cognitive reality layer, and a Vox functions somewhat similarly to a Psychoframe in accessing it.
- The ancient disaster wrought by the Vox happened in conjunction with other precursor civilizations and their conflicts (12,000 years ago, rather than 20,000). There are a handful of characters directly from this time period - applicants will be told of key information these characters would know about.
